Hi Guys
I am new to this website so excuse me if i am repeating anything but haven't learnt my way around this site yet. I have joined the site in search for some information as MINI Sytner will not listen to me as there parts catalogue is "never wrong".
Basically I own a Mini Cooper SD with all the kit on. I have just come to 12700 miles and i have been getting a horrible squeak so I took it in and on the third time after been sent away twice after been told nothing was wrong, I am now been told I need new discs and pads and that this is because of heavy breaking and over heating. I then find out that the same brakes are used on a cooper as the SD which I find somewhat stupid!
After chatting with the service manager he has advised I upgrade to the Cooper S brakes which are perforated, ventilated and 294mm diameter. Even though I'm no mechanic/expert the first thing I thought was how can you increase disc size but not calliper size as if not wont i be left with a 7mm rim on the inner of the disc where no connection is made so I will end up with a rusty 7mm rim round the inner edge. According to there parts catalogue this is not the case and my callipers can take the increased size discs and matching pads
As far as I was aware i would be needing Discs, Pads and also the calliper carrier?
If this isn't the case and the service manager is correct then great but it doesn't seem right due to the size increase.
Thanks in advance for your help
Cheers
