OK...car died on me Monday Night...started loosing power..then the Engine light came on closely followed by EML light.
At this point went into limp mode...max of 20mph.
Had to pull over in a bus stop and be rescued back home.

Put the MCS trough diagnostic and got a P0302 Cylinder 2 Misfire.
I thought I'd do the obvious things first, so replaced all spark plugs, coil and HT leads.

Fired up again today and same error is back...car sounds like it is running on 3 cylinders.

So just wondering what my next steps should be as I really don't want to replace stuff that isn't broke...it could get to be expensive in the long run.

MCS 2006. Dave F...15% pulley..Custom SS exhaust

Thanks

A code P0302 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

Faulty spark plug or wire Faulty coil (pack)
Faulty oxygen sensor(s)
Faulty fuel injector
Burned exhaust valve
Faulty catalytic converter(s)
Running out of fuel
Poor compression
Defective computer

I would take a look at the cables of your fuel injectors, to see if the cable of injector number 2 is split, or damaged in any way. If all seems good, I would change injector number two with injector number three, for instance, to see if the error code would change to P0303.

Put a new injector into No2 and no change. Still running very rough. Not really drivable.
After reading loads of other threads dealing with the same fault code, looks like I need to do a compression test??
If I buy a compression tester, what size thread do I need to fit into the spark plug holes?
Thanks

Compression test done and results probably speak for themselves:
Cyl 1: 162 psi
Cyl 2: 0 psi
Cyl 3: 172psi
Cyl 4: 172psi.

Spoke to the garage that usually does my aircon, and explained what's happened so far.
He immediately asked if my Mini had the supercharger and said that it was probably a burnt valve.
That's out of my league, so he's coming next Mon to tow it to the garage.
At least I've taken off most of the parts, so he can access the head without removing everything that is normally in the way.
