When i recently replaced a driveshaft i noticed there was a slight bit of play on the wheel bearing, well now it's rumbling on right hand turns (I knew i should have replaced when it was stripped for the shaft:crying:)

So I'm looking to use the SKF unit as I've used them on other vehicles with good results, only problem is SKF list 2 types of unit asnd both seem to fit my late 03 vehicle :confused1:.

Checking with Real oem I get part numbers as below

31 22 6 756 889 Wheel hub with bearing, front (=VKBA 3674)
31 22 6 776 671 (08/01/2006 — 02/04/2011), nonexchangeable retrospectively (=VKBA 6634)
31 22 6 776 162 (01/04/2011 — ), Exchangeable retrospectively

VKBA 6634 - Wheel Bearing Kit

Manufacturer / OE Number
MINI 31 22 2 318 457
MINI 31 22 6 776 162
MINI 31 22 6 776 671

VKBA 3674 - Wheel Bearing Kit

Manufacturer / OE Number
MINI 31 22 2 318 454
MINI 31 22 6 756 889

TBH I'm well confused, could any body shine some light on this for me :laugh:

Hi Lordf

I checked with real OEM and Got part number 31 22 6 756 889

On realoem it goes like this 31 22 6 756 889>>31 22 6 776 671>>31 22 6 776 162

31 22 6 756 889 Orginal part, this is equal to SKF VKBA3674

31 22 6 776 671 Superseded part, this is equal to SKF VKBA6634

So if i get this right i need the superseded part VKBA 6634.

Cheers for the help :thumbup::thumbup:

I upgraded them all to the R56 bearings and bought the bigger bolts

most definitely, fewer instances of torque relaxation on track since, and significantly larger and stronger bolts less likely to shear or stretch, also better fit with R56 discs around bolt holes not that it matters so much, overall well worth doing.

I used OEM from BMW, R56S LCI part numbers.

Not so much, I get trade from BMW, and it was after ordering SKF about 5 times from ECP and they repeatedly sent others, not just that but two different makes so sacked that off and bought the right bits. A few people will go and check the stock for me before sending but on this occasion it just wasn't working. I also have a spare set for the other car which I suspect was built on R53 new parts, so they'll be for sale sometime having never been run.

they went in my OEM web design Ronal split rims, now on R112's which were all I tried, I'm inclined to say they will
