Camshaft, what's the best for big bhp

The 469 from cold hunted heavily, that even spat and coughed if quickly moving the car during initial warm up, it would sometimes bog down which I had to dip the clutch and rev a few times just a little to clear or it would cut out, so pretty ill mannered but I didn't really mind, it reminded me it's not standard.
Interesting stuff that... I always thought my car ran bad during warming up due to E85, but I guess it's the 469 after all..? It really doesn't like any throttle for the first minute (or two if it's really cold) after a cold start, so I just let it idle for a while before driving.

The idle is steady on mine, even when cold, and I'm talking all the way to -25°C cold. I did raise the idle speed to 960rpm tho, and my after start enrichment is quite heavy with E85.

Good points about the bpv vs. low vacuum and supercharger load at idle... maybe a good idea to stay clear of those "upgraded" bpv's. :)

My idle smoothed down a bit more when I swapped out the Kavs lightweight crank pulley and put a PRW damper in instead. The difference was clearly visible when looking at the belt tensioner too; a lot less movement after the swap.

Out of interest what afr are people idling at?
Mine fluctuates around 14.7 (ecu in closed loop). I have the stock ecu, so there's no way to affect idle afr unless I disconnect the lambda sensor... If I had a standalone ecu I'd run it a bit richer at idle, as it seems to like it. At least with E85.

The good thing about getting full access is you can get another car added down the line for just over £200 by bytronik.
The good thing about Full Access is that you can still get your car to pass the yearly tech inspection in Finland... :D BTW, the big sw update Bytetronik promised to deliver "soon" about 18 months ago has now gone to "out in couple of months" status. So with any luck they'll release it this year.

have you had any issues with FA not opening? Both my desktop and laptop have stopped opening it, only affects FA, reinstalled and it isn't that, didn't work on Thomas's laptop either so a Windows 10 issue I'd expect others to have, although I haven't looked on the forum, just curious
I actually did have an issue like that on a Win10 Pro laptop. Probably some Windows update broke something. Simple reinstall didn't help, but reinstall after uninstalling and manually removing all files and folders it left behind got it working again.

Yes we still trying to get my idle figured out with the catcam, and constant stalling issue when going clutch in rolling up to a stop, bloody annoying as hell. But I agree definitely car idles smooth after start with a richer AFR in the 13's. Wish I had the tuning knowledge to tackle this with FA53
I used to have similar stalling issues, and after a lot of useless tuning efforts I found that the problem was actually in the throttle body... it goes fully shut during engine braking, and then it was sticking shut unless given some throttle to get it moving. This was visible in the logs when comparing to a working car's logs from same situation New throttle body fixed this. Stalling when revs drop back to idle can also be caused by a faulty lambda sensor. That will pop a CEL at some point.

Sadly there's no way to adjust idle AFR with the FA53. It would require a forced open loop, which can't be done with the stock ECU (or that's what I've been told).

Yeah it's the bigger overlap with the 469 that causes lower and a bit unstable vacuum at idle, which then confuses the ECU. And other parts of the airpump that is the engine also affect to it of course. Like the head. And apparently the fuel too... I ran my car on gasoline for couple of tank fulls during the summer, and couldn't get it to idle as good as it does on E85. That could be down to the 960cc injectors too, they're not opening much at idle with gasoline. Cold start roughness wasn't as bad as it is with E85, but still there.

The bigger issue with the 469 is the occasional bogging down when starting from standstill. Rare, but annoying.
