Hi All,

Had a whole load of faults previously ( tyre pressure sensor, abs, traction control and handbrake lights on perminantly), today i found the canbus cable to the blue plug for the wheel speed sensor completely rubbed though.

Didn't seem to be shorted together but one cable was completely rubbed through and snapped.

Soldered two new lengths of cable in there place, shorter that the previous one and a slightly larger diameter cable but I have seen that soldered joints should be fine in canbus.

Handbrake light went out immediatly and the other went out after resetting the tyre pressure sensor and driving a short while.

They then came back on showed faults;

5E18 - CAN data fault from DME / DDE

5D92 - wheel speed sensor, front left, pulse gear

The later of the two is obvious but I what could the 5E18 code be ?

Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance

Usually a can line fault like that after repair indicates that the wire you soldered in is not the correct resistance or amperage, the sensor works by PWM and requires a specific resistance kn the loom as a “default”, then when the wheel spins it creates a wave form through the sensor and back to the abs module, if this deviates too far from “what it knows to be right” i.e too high a resistance, it’ll throw a fault, also the can line fault will point to this too as it sends a check signal to the abs sensor every so often, it could literally be a few ohms wrong and itll show a fault
