You best track focused tyres?

Guys
I have a track only R53 and am looking for my first set of tyres to replace the standard road versions I bought the car with.

I have no experience whatsoever in the area, so relying on your feedback.

I’m still new to this scene and looking at spending no more than £400 for the set.

I’m running 215/45/17.
On the R53 FB page I’ve asked a similar question some weeks ago and thought I’d made my mind up on Federal RS-R’s, and found them for £67 per corner. However, when I went to purchase them the price rose to £85.

So what are you running and where do you get them from?

Cheers
Ollie

Nankang NS-2R are a little cheaper and quite popular.
Most decent semi slicks in that size will start heading North of 100 quid a corner.

Camskill or the bay of e are as good as anywhere for prices.
Oh, and my 2p is the NS2R are vastly superior to the 595s.
NS-2R's are definitely a superior tyre to the 595. I'd 100% recommend Dunlop Direzza 03G for hard track use, but as you're only just starting out the NS-2R will be perfect. Demon Tweeks is always a reasonable place to buy them, you can occasionally get a good deal. Or look out on forums, FB or ebay for used sets in 215/45R17.

I have 9 used Direzza's in 215/45R17 that I was planning on putting up for sale here when I take some pictures on Sunday, if that's of any interest to you.

Just one thing for sure if you are looking for budget track tyres DO NOT, NOT, NOT, NOT, NOT, NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES be tempted by the tyre that for some reason some suppliers call a track day tyre Toyo T1Rs.

They are she sh!ttiest of the sh!ttiest tyres ever invented, they don't grip & you can't wear them out!

^this. T1R's are the worst tyres I have ever driven on track. Flexed like crazy even on a 800kg car.

Anyone tried Westlakes?

Drift works sell them, thinking about a set for the Mazda....
I have seen & considered them previously and there are ads with various suppliers that talk about them being drift tyres, track day tyres etc and mentioning lots of people using them as such but then I tried as hard as I could & couldn't find anything about anyone using them apart from American drifters, so I abandoned the idea.

There are actually also sold under another name the Kumho KU36.
you were looking at Camskill

they've said the price should come back down in May, they ran out and had to buy stock in apparently...............................
