My car (R56 N14) suffered from random misfires with a stage 1 tune so I swapped the coil packs out with some Delphi ones I got from Autodoc. It improved things slightly but the misfire was still there. When I went to a stage 3+ set up the misfire was awful under any high engine load or high boost conditions as the spark wasn't strong enough. I've now swapped the coils out for Bosch ones and it seems to cope so far with the EVO X spark plugs.

Has anyone running high boost tried any different coil packs or had to gap the plugs down a bit? If so, what plug gap did you end up with?

These are the coils I'm running at the moment. They're the best I've come across in terms of generating a powerful spark when running high boost. Anybody else running anything different?

I think 1320 sell the same ones that I got. The picture on their website looks like the Delphi coils I had previously as it doesn't have the rubber casing running the whole length of it.

I think 413110187 is an internal part number for Euro Car parts. The Bosch number is 0221504464. Is there anywhere I can get detailed specifications for the 0221504464 Vs the 0221504800 in terms of spark energy? The 0221504464 isn't listed for the Mini but I see it's used on some high powered BMWs.

Thanks Mort, I'll give them a go and see if it saves me having to gap the plugs down. Hopefully they've got a bit more spark energy than than the 0221504800's that I got.

On the Autodoc site they're not listed for the Mini but they clearly fit...

Update. I've been running the Bosch 0221504464 coils for a little while now at 23psi on a TTE 300 turbo with no weak spark issues. The Bosch 0221504800 coils couldn't handle anything above 17psi of boost and the various Delphi coils I tried were equally weak.

For anybody running a tuned car don't bother replacing your coils with anything less. The next step up from this would be Ignition Projects or adapting different coils to fit with some custom wiring.

Running stock Bosch items for the JCW. No issues.
I might have an underlying issue with spark then. The different coils have helped massively but maybe there's something else going on if nobody else has seen this issue.

I remember ages ago that the ring earth from the coil pack loom that goes onto the cam cover bolt came off and I crimped on a new one. Maybe there's a bit of resistance there...

Something to check anyway.
