All,
I recently bought a 2005 mini cooper 1600 standard that needs ahead gasket so have stripped it off. When it was on the bench I found this small steel button type thing on the floor. Does anyone recognise it. It must be from the car or engine ???

We thought that but how could it possibly have fallen out . The exploded view don't quite look like it

It looks like the little cap on the end of the rocker arm that sits on top of the hydraulic lifter(tappit).
If you search for rocker arm you'll find it.

You cant buy them separate.
I bought all used but very new complete rockers - just for the collars.
Somebody on here made some brass ones but cannot vouch for the reliability.

Do you think it'll sit in there on its own with out the clip? I have read somewhere that it's just for installation.
Or will it fly out ?

I have remanufactured these in the original spec material. I have a set on my own car because mine, like yours was missing one. Whilst I was making a set for myself I took the opportunity to make a couple of sets while the machine was set up and running. Drop me a pm if you want a set👍🏻
