It is a tough call. Going to get them both cleaned up and have a good think by this weekend on which to sell. It’s not straight forward, as both have their high points and I keep flipping between the 2
I guess the real killer is which will be better to keep for the next 5+ years and what I’ll get back for it with what I’ll spend to keep it running etc

For me it is the fun element primarily, (big word for me). I also think both will hold their values well but the 53 would be my choice. Appreciate there are some nice bits on the 50. Take them off and if they transfer to your 53 all good. If not flog them and try and make a few more quid. Thoughie though.

I don’t expect to have a classic here like a Mk2 Escort worth £20k for instance, but just holding a reasonable value still in 5years or so. I guess it’s a pot shot regarding that with the plans to eliminate all fuel cars one day…

yeah I am thinking R53. I’d like to take the front subframe just done and rear sway bar from the R50, just got to see if getting the parts of the R53 is worth it as the R50 was a pig to do for the guy who did it for me.
Whilst I’m handy with spanners and can do general things, as a 50 year old with kidney failure, the heavy work fucks me out 😂

It could be worth putting the 53 to stock and selling it while they are getting a decent price perhaps, they don't seem to get much more with stuff on them, fit the bits to the 50 and run that for less, keep it's stock parts and sell on any mod parts when that goes at some point, or sell on the stuff instead and run the 50 as is if you like it. As for future running costs either could develop problems, 50 will be cheaper for full motors for a while I expect, less so for gearboxes if Getrag, either car can be a hoot through the lanes, both are common cars, neither are for speculators imo, not for a very long time, and only then certain factory spec in a particular state.

If your intention was to be helpful, then I suggest you learn how express yourself appropriately. Based on your prior post earlier in this thread, you have a long way to go.
