Lol at this thread, I took the 7 on track recently when the MINI didnt show. Brakes were shot after 2 laps so spent the rest of the day trying to drift it until the diff gave up.

If you all just went on track rather than talking about it you'd actually find out first hand the limit of your stock or modified parts.

As for TA we wont be doing the championship in 2013 as we will be on a year out.

Not really suprised at that as it's been a tough year for you I'd imagine . Shame though all the same .

Also not like you to slight a TA thread and knock peoples enthusiasm so i guessed you're a bit down in the dumps

"Knocked people's enthusiasm," as you put it, about the off-topic track day element that was brought up, wrongly implying that you need a race car to enjoy one. Something you seem to have long forgotten and, from what I hear, have regretted.

The only part of Ben's post that even linked to TA was the point that we won't be competing. Hardly knocking anyone's enthusiasm.

On the contrary, it might even give you the enthusiasm to go out there and pick up some podiums of your own, Nige. Two years behind a keyboard must be getting a bit boring compared to going out there and tearing up some tarmac.

I think he's spent a lot more time working on the car than the keyboard to be fair Sam. He doesn't post that much!
Exactly, he doesn't post much. But the infrequent posts are becoming increasingly negative.

Love Time Attack and would encourage anyone to give it a go as a ohw or full season. But after competing in two championships and as a ohw twice we need a full year out to regroup, fix the car and build it capaple of winning outright in 2014 so will be back then.

We are talking to a couple of teams about some rounds of door to door racing on an arrive and drive basis but thats all for now.

Will just support the rest of the mt minis entering next year instead.

I think with all the fires and big wings and turbo'd kettles out there people have forgotten the other guys who did well in TA without spending a lot or doing silly amounts, Tristo always ran well with his being a well built and set up M45 car, Thomas 1320 did very well on his 1st outing on a low spec engine and running off the shelf BC coilovers, power ranger 1 did well on well used cross and then miester-r's. The only thing new competitors should look at spending a fortune on is driver training.

Theres also plenty of other series out there that only cost what you want it to cost, sprints, hillclimb the SMRC stuff up here etc.

How Fast - Events

i would do at least a couple of these to see how things pan out
before deciding to throw a lot of money at a car to go and do a full time attack season

There's defintley more pressure at How Fast when its time to record a time 1 out lap 2 hot laps and 1 cool down lap.......compared to 15-20 min sessions.

I still haven't mastered getting a perfect lap, which I'm happy with or 2 laps which are consistant.......though I can be consistant on the 1/4 mile.

Can you do it on the cheap........of course you can, look at the GIOVINAZZO brothers they are defintley the Spirit of Time Attack sleeping in the garages and constantly smiling at being there.

The thing that draws me to TA is the fact a cage isn't needed. Getting a Mini to full FIA spec cost wise (even just the cage) would be about the same as 3-4 rounds of TA. Then the race license, then the series entrance cost on top of that. IMO to build a car and run for a series other than Time Attack and pay a season entry, license etc I think your talking £20k plus. And that's a low end series too!

TA is perfect for people like us on here for example, its more intense then a trackday, more controlled and yet half the cost of "racing" plus it can also shut the "my car is faster" arguments up ;)
