The Rise and Fall of TDLC's Midnight Black JCW

Hi folks,

After having owned my Chilli Red Cooper S JCW Stage 1 for 18 months, I decided it was time for a change. I took the plunge and got myself a Midnight Black JCW :D I'm so chuffed with this machine. The power delivery is staggering.

The car is a Sep 2009 build and had just 6k miles on the clock. Specs are:

- Chilli Pack
- Visibility Pack
- Punch Leather
- Full Bluetooth + arm rest
- Rear parking sensors
- Hi-Fi

I took delivery of the car on Thursday and finally got round to taking a few pics.

Mod list:
1. KW coilovers
2. JCW front and rear anti-roll bar upgrade (24 & 18.5mm)
3. M7 tower strut brace
4. Nitrac front discs
5. Brake fluid upgrade
6. Powder coating the R112 Challenge Spokes.

:D

Looking very nice & will look even sweeter with the KWs wound down :D

I'd hold off on the powder coating of the wheels until you've completely sure you don't love the stealthy 'sensible' look of keeping the wheels silver, will be completely transformed once you've dropped it :)

& colour code the wheel arches instead.

Cheers mate. Spot on, hence powder coating ranks at to bottom of the to do list :D I might just try on my gloss black track day wheels once lowered to see what it looks like and decide if it's time & bucks well spent.
Nice one - that didn't take long then - looks absolutely lovely to be honest

Mod list looks to be very good

KW coilovers - superb choice!
JCW front and rear anti-roll bar upgrade - I would recommend that you look at the Eibach setup - it works out to be better both in ride and value - also, get it fitted at the same time as your coilovers, else the labour cost is staggering
M7 tower strut brace - good man!

Just cause you like that colour or another reason?

There isn't enough lip on them just to coat the centres and a whole wheel coat would be too severe IMO.

Also, my powder coating was so thick it stopped the fitting kit working properly. Although thats just my shite local wheel specialist.
Awesome JCW mate, hopefully you can enjoy owning this one!! Looking forward to seeing it on track :thumbup1:

Just noticed in your 2nd picture that the bonnet seems to be misaligned by quite a bit. It sits quite high on the left of the picture (drivers side).

Might be worth getting the dealer to put it right for you. :)

Cheers for the comments guys :)

Can't wait for the suspension upgrade. The stock suspension on the car is really awful. The car has way too much torque for stock suspension.

Had that grin on my face this evening when I got in the car to drive home. Haven't had that for a long, long time. Oh, and today was the first time I farted in the car to mark that the car and I are have entered the advanced stage of bonding.

p-torque remap should be on your list ;)
That sits in the back of my mind, but I decided to spend a few bucks on driver tuition from Mr. Foster first :thumbup1:

Pretty bad indeed, had noticed that too. It's the front bumper that needs aligning. There's a gap between the bumper and the front end of the wheel arch trim.

Cheers, yes you will see it on track after the suspension upgrade. Maybe with a Maxicosi installed on the back seat though

I love the all-black look and if it comes with the usual "bat-mobile" or "K.I.T.T." abuse so be it. But perhaps it may be a bit too much black, but the dark side pulls!!. I'll decide after my first track day in the new car to see if I still fancy that look. My track day wheels are gloss black :cools:

Coming to a track near you this summer! I might even keep up with you in this piece of machine

Oh - and when are you going to bring it to a track day?
In any event June 28th, maybe (i.e. hopefully...) sooner...

Yer saw the car and the specs and it had my name written all over...

What size are your Eibach anti-roll bars?
