Supertech Pistons & rods

Hey guys,

Not a frequent poster on the forums but a frequent reader.
Anyone had any experience on supertech pistons?
I am interested for my JCW.
Also thinking of 0.5mm oversize?

Any thoughts appreciated.

Car is running at 297bhp at the moment.

Also a question is are there any rods that will fit on these pistons?

Thanks in advance

And what are the reasons behind your choice?

what choice mate? sorry i just didnt understad.

specs of the car are hybrid twin scroll turbo (ported)+ported exhaust manifold, intercooler, 3" catless etc its a long list which i will post later on :)
The car pulled 247 wheel horse power on a mustang dyno and 35.5wheel torque.

I found CP carillo pistons and rods for this car. Also Wossner pistons, scat rods and this supertech.
Just wanted to know of choices as it will be the next move
sorry what is HWGA?
I think he means Here We Go Again, because he was getting called out earlier today for a high power figure without a mods list to match.

I didn't know Supertech made pistons and rods and certainly never heard of anyone using them in a Mini. The most common are pistons from Wosner or Arias and rods from Eagle or Carillo. 1320 do a good deal on Wossners and their own rebranded rods and Arias from RMW. You will need to go oversize to get the best from them because you can have the bore sized exactly for the correct wall clearance for the pistons you choose.

edit: those are R53, but you seem to have an R58? Don't know anything about the Turbo POS engine, but how is the ECU managing that and have you modded the fueling system to keep up?
Also, what are you aiming to achieve by doing an engine build? Increased compression, safety, what?

Add the Mahle Motorsport pistons 77,50mm and Arrow rods also Sava.
Curious to read more info about your car too.

Thanks alot! I will post some more about the car when i get the hang of this forum i dont know how to upload photos lol.
Never seen the mahle pistons and arrow rods for the mini do you have a link for them? I will check for them of course myself

Hi thanks for the reply.

I dont like people just jumping on a post saying here we go again i hope its just a misunderstanding. I got figures and mods and I can show them if i figure out how to upload a photo on here lol.

Well this is the first time I see the supertech pistons myself to be honest and i was curious. SUPERTECH PISTONS LINK

Thanks for the different types of pistons I know the wossner ones and also CP. need to check out the Arias rods and prices.

Im keeping the compression the same as it is from factory. The main reason im touching the bottom end is for the rods as the factory ones cant handle the torque but since im opening the bottom end I will change the pistons (just for the sake of doing a complete job). I know the JCW pistons can handle the power.

Im just looking for 350 if i can go more I wont say no. At that stage the fuelling system will need some changes eg injectors.
At the moment nothing is needed and the factory Bosch ECU can handle everything fine. its a pain in the ass to sort it out though ill tell you this hehe.
The new turbo that should be installed in december/january will be the GT28 killer (which was still in testing stages but now its ready and its an absolute dream) *EDIT* : I already have a hybrid turbo on the car its the one I use now and another one is on its way

P.S to post

Just in case anyone asks or has doubts about my car, it is a project and i have spent some money on it for my pleasure.
If people have doubts about anything or want to be a smart ass please dont bother my post as I am just looking for advice and people willing to help and not to get into fights and trying to prove something to someone i dont even know.
But for specs and if needed advice to them or me I am more than willing to post anything :) blahblahblahblahblah

Some good info about the Mahle pistons is here: http://www.minitorque.com/forum/f13...enls-project-mahle-motorsports-pistons-30323/

The Arrow rods are a work in progress the past 6 or more months, but they should be ready by now. You'll have to ask Arrow directly. I know some members from here have used them, but have no further info about them...sorry.
I think few people have used the ZRP rods with Wooster pistons.
The zrp rods won't work with the Mahle pistons without some machine work.

Deffinatley interested to hear more about your project!
Savva, I think someone from here got a set of Supertech pistons but never fitted them as he didn't like the quality of them and replaced them with something else. Let me see...his username is...MNIPWR. Search his project thread here, or even on NAM (he is from US).

Thanks alot for the info the Mahle look damn nice!
No worries about the rods I will search well and ill find them! Because as Jack said i need to be sure they fit to the pistons.
Hi Jack thanks for the reply! Yes I've seen a package on ebay with wossner and zrp!
Did you read about the zrp anyone had any problems??

Thanks again

Hey thanks! checking out the post now.

Didnt find anything about pistons is this it? http://www.minitorque.com/forum/f272/my-09-cooper-s-build-thread-31990/index7.html
I had the Carrillo rods custom made with tapered small ends but still needed to machine the back of the Mahle Motorsport pistons in order to fit. However, pistons and rods are high quality parts indeed.
Since you are willing to go this far, why don't you consider doing some valve train work too? You'll see remarkable gains from a ported-polished head, superflow valves and camshafts.

Its exacty what i'd like to do but first of all i need to be sure that the car will be running safe at the point it is now this is my priority. everything else is in time since i like time attack challenges more than straight line speed so I am now spending alot of money on chassis bushes control arms camber plates etc.
All in good time :)

how the hell do we upload pictures here? lol

If you go that route, you'll be greatly rewarded! There is significant restriction in flow in the OEM head...
Have a read at my project thread and you'll see what I exactly mean.

Uploading photos is easy.
If you are using iPhone or iPad tapatalk is the easiest software to post photos.
If you are using a computer then click "go advanced" then click on the attachment icon and the upload file manager opens on a separate page. You can then add files from your computer and insert inline your posts.
Hope it helps.
