Hi Guys
I have 2003 R53 Mini Cooper S, the supercharger is starting to rattle in the snout, so it looks like its time to overhaul the Supercharger. Why do these things happen 2 months after you buy the car.:beatdeadhorse5:.
Any way the car is the most fun I have had with my clothes on for a long time. despite its long fault list I plan on keeping it and putting it right, I am trying to find out more info around the PTO gears (water pump) just in case they need replacing. Does any one have the dimensions/Spec of the gears, in particular things like.
Outer dimensions
Bore size for the center holes
Mod or pitch
Width.
I have searched all over the net and got no where. I have also asked Eaton for the tech specs but I have fear this will go nowhere.
Once I have amassed all of the info I will put it all in this thread to hopefully help others.
What I know about the PTO gears so far is.
Smaller gear has 24 teeth this is a shape a spur gear with no boss
Larger gear has 42 teeth this is a shape b spur gear and the boss is very small
The full list of details needed for each gear is listed below:
Small Gear
Bore Diamater (B) (shaft 15.36)
Face Width (FW)
Hub Diameter (H) N/A
Material
Material Specification
Number of teeth 24
Module 1.25
Outside Diamater (OD) 33 mm
Pitch
Pitch Circle Dia. (PCD)
Pressure Angle
Width (W)
Large Gear
Bore Diamater (B) (10.75 shaft)
Face Width (FW)
Hub Diameter (H) N/A
Material
Material Specification
Number of teeth 42
Module 1.25
Outside Diamater (OD) 57mm
Pitch
Pitch Circle Dia. (PCD)
Pressure Angle
Width (W) 6.0 mm
I have looked at the rebuild services and people charging 300 -500 bucks for this service, its a bit rich for me so I have to do job myself, for a set of heat treated gears you are looking at no more than 40 bucks each, the little one should only be around 10 - 15 bucks at the outside. Some online gear providers will do some additional machining for you before the gear is dispatched. Once I have a suitable set of replacements and where to get them I will post the links etc to the company in this thread. As I am sure people are experiencing this problem as the SC get over 100K miles or more on them.
Apologies in advance if this has been covered in another thread.
