Quick update, obviously the car's been out of action this week but the good news is we've made a puller so hopefully it'll be back Friday or Saturday! Borla's arriving early next week, but trust me to ring 1320 yesterday and ask to rearrange it and then get an email the day after saying it might be there on time  Either way it's now being fitted on March 12th. Also may have something else in store that week depending on funds, but you'll have to wait and see!

This arrived at 9:30am today! :) Huge thanks to Tarmac Sportz, they're normally a Nissan 350/370Z specialist but managed to get this in, it looks bloody lovely! And no the box did not fit in the car

Did you manage to fit it in de-boxed? Quite alot of space in the Mini when the back is down and front seat is wound down.

When I bought my JCW bumper I couldnt really turn left and could barely change gear

It actually fitted in really easily out of the box because it's in 6 different sections! Got a picture of the whole lot here for you including the manifold, and you are correct, it is indeed a tomcat :)

So, the Borla and Janspeed are on. All I can say is wow! The noise is beyond ridiculous and the car certainly won't be seeing any track days with it on  And I haven't even had the decat on yet... Lovely deep tone all the way up about 3.5-4k revs and then it starts to really howl! I'd upload a video but the only video I have doesn't do it justice or capture the deep parts of the noise. And the pops and bangs are awesome! Huge thanks have to go to Scott from 1320 for fitting it and being absolutely obsessive in making sure it lined up straight and sat properly, Chris from sales at Tarmac Sportz for sourcing it, Ben Cambray for the Janspeed and tomcat/decat pipes and Borla themselves for making such a stunning bit of kit. Expensive but worth every penny! Just going to enjoy the car like this for a while (really until I have more money after also going in on the group buy for a Coolerworx shifter) and then modifications can continue further! Next steps I think are finally sorting my coolant tank which I keep putting off and getting my R56 brakes refurbished, painted and fitted

Only a quick update today! Coolant tank replaced with a Pro Alloy item and it looks mint  contacting either Big Redd or BCS soon about my R56 brakes too! To keep myself occupied in the meantime I've ordered a Coolerworx shifter through the group buy which should be tasty :) hopefully get that fitted soonish but I need to be careful lately because my pay date's changing so I'll have to bear that in mind when ordering parts. Bloody work!

Been a while since I last updated this, but the Coolerworx shifter is being fitted next week, pics will follow. Clutch and flywheel have also conveniently decided to call it a day too, so they'll be replaced ASAP but the main thing is the car still drives. Also discovered just how loud the Borla/Janspeed setup really is last week, went to meet a few mates after work and they heard me accelerating out of a village from a mile and a quarter away  decat pipe may also be trialled when the shifter goes in depending on time constraints seeing as I haven't used it properly yet and I have a show coming up at work :)

So, update time. Had the shifter fitted at Millsy's (it's awesome) which was the high point of the week, then had to have a new clutch and flywheel at a cost of £695 and the power steering pump cacked itself on the way! The local dealer and BMW/Mini have agreed to pay £150 towards the cost of a new pump given it was replaced 6 months ago, but wouldn't agree to cover the whole cost because the car's modified and its age and lack of dealer service history, although they have agreed that the part can be sourced elsewhere as long as it's an OEM part and fitted at my usual garage so at least it's not costing main dealer prices. Also needing new front top mounts and a CV boot but those are small things, and fingers crossed my R56 brakes will finally be going on (needs new front pads anyway) once I speak to the garage tomorrow. That and a major scare with the family dog being ill has resulted in a relatively crap week, but luckily things are improving and being sorted out so hopefully the car will be back on track soon enough. Unfortunately this damn page won't let me upload a picture of the shifter haha, but if anyone wants to see I believe it's on Coolerworx's instagram page. Highly recommend the shifter and Millsy's, shifter is quality and Jason's a genuinely good bloke, had a laugh throughout and he took some time to show me a couple of bits about the car that aren't massive details but fascinating to know nonetheless

are you saying a BMW sourced pump that has a 2 year warranty anywhere in the UK has been rejected for replacement by them under it's warranty, just because the car has no service history and is modified? Was it maybe just because it was fitted elsewhere and the car wasn't submitted to them for confirmation and repair as is required?

They don't refuse to sell you one when it has no service history and is modified so I feel there may be more to that? Having the car serviced by BMW is not essential for any manufacturer warranty work as has been established since block exemption hasn't it? It is why independents can work on new cars without it affecting manufacturer warranty, so I'm curious whose rules are being applied there. I think you've been had sir. Especially as for example, the MSV run BMW M4's are repaired under the normal warranty conditions and they are also 'modified'. As are Police cars ;O)

It's an ongoing mess mate, trying to see what my options are because as far as I can tell absolutely nothing in the warranty said the car couldn't be modified. Speaking to a lady friend who's got a law degree and she's got a copy of the warranty paperwork and a copy of the email explaining BMW's basis for refusing to pay out so she's going through it and seeing where I stand, she thinks I'm in a strong position to claim the rest of it back so hopefully there'll be an update soon on that. For now though £150 is better than nothing and the local garage have ordered one in from euro car parts for £268 as long as my buggered one gets given back, so it might be a case of going through small claims or something similar to claim the rest of the cost. Either way it's being done next Friday along with my R56 brakes being fitted, a new CV boot, top mounts and a seized bolt in the lower engine mount. Just in time for the Mini show running at work next weekend!

it's unbelievable you're in that position which is due to people involved only, not BMW policy

I wish that people could boycott such dealerships where idiots that think they can play God work, taking things into their own hands. The owners would take a different view when they realised what happens at service department level.

Whether you bought the part and had it fitted elsewhere, or if it was bought and fitted there, nothing changes the warranty the part benefits from unless directly altering the parts normal function or operation, or if affected by other parts in the form of consequential or subsequent damage which does occur, so I'd have taken the car elsewhere perhaps, but you definitely should pursue it, one official letter from a solicitor would have to be notified to the head of business, actually I would have it sent to them, and perhaps a copy to the warranty department at BMW Farnborough, and make it clear on the HOB letter who it is CC'd to.

These people have no place in main agents, they ruin the experience for the very customers they strive to get back in there, prize idiots.

Well it's worked out in the end after a fairly protracted battle, they're covering it entirely! Had the new pump fitted along with a few other bits, the same night I had a phone call from BMW UK to ask if I'd had any problems, I explained I'd just had it sorted at my usual garage and they said they'd decided to cover the cost :) Had it back for a couple of weeks with the R56 brakes on and they're bloody good, got my MOT and insurance to pay for soon though which will doubtless be expensive haha

Time I updated this thread? Not much has happened, mainly due to me having no time or money to spend with the car for a while. That said it did make an appearance at Trax and is still used regularly, and I've just ordered ST XTAs from Oli and some Autec Wizards as both a Christmas present to myself and because I'm joining the army in March so it needs to be done pronto! Good to be back on here for the time being and hopefully I'll have a little bit of time to keep up with what's going on in the mini world :thumbup1:

Another update,

Coilovers aren't due to be delivered till near the end of the month, but I also ordered some Hardrace RCAs from Orranje which I believe are sitting at work (got a tracking email from Royal Mail to say they've been delivered but I haven't been in to find out) and some 5mm spacers from 1320 just in case there's a struggle with clearance on the front between the tyre and the spring/spring perch. Some rough maths says I'll be about 4.8mm further away from the shocks anyway with my new wheel combo but I'd rather not find out when they're on that they don't clear them. The spacers should be here Monday next week and the wheels are estimated to be here hopefully by next Friday. The longer bolts to go with the spacers are 30mm thread length which I hope will be enough.

Oh, and I also finally pulled my finger out and got my remote locking sorted, which hadn't been working since July and turned out to be the key being f***ed due to me being lazy and not replacing the damaged casing as soon as it split at the lock button thereby allowing ingress of dirt and moisture, and I got a spare key made seeing as the car didn't come with one when I bought it! They've also removed the key that we can't account for from the car's memory so it can't be used remotely. So all in all, a good few days of ordering and fixing things

Gotta love the Mini suppliers! Only ordered some 5mm KAVS spacers from 1320 on Wednesday night and they've just turned up at the same time as the longer bolts :)
