Is there an alternative to pulling my pants down at a BMW parts counter? Any of the aftermarket ones actually an oem with the number ground off?

you can buy the pump gears from BMW, but no parts for the relief valve. Not a part I'd be going aftermarket with imo.

When I had the engine apart I stripped and inspected the oil pump, I could see no wear to the rotors but there was a little wear to the aluminium housing (this engine was previously run VERY low on oil hence the rebuild!)
Now back together the oil pressure is ok while moving but at idle drops to zero, as indicated by the gauge I installed not the Chrono pack lies!
The engine sounds fine at idle so it may be just the cheap gauge lying but I can't ignore it, hence why I'm thinking about replacing the pump.

Is the complete assembly not available any more?
