dear fellow torquers,
having the r50 as my first Mini I'm not aware of how the powersteering should feel like.

However can it be that after changing battery and radiator the powersteering seems to have been revitalised? I feels softer now. At least it did right after start this morning. I'm gonna check the next few days if I'm just lucky today.

Also when starting the car and giving throttle there's an almost running like water / splashy sound with each push on throttle from the front / at the steering - is that due to lubricant being fed to the steering rack, oil to the system or? Who am I to know not being a mechanic.

Anyway I'm just in need for some guidance after 3 different mechanics (not mini maniacs) offered me 3 different and quite expensive solutions like changing power steering pump, steering rack etc.

Thanks...

the water sound is quite likely coolant level low or a little air in there,
