I will be doing the majority of work myself on a learn as you go basis so this will be a fully indepth thread. I will start in a couple of weeks once my shed arrives and all the garden stuff can get out of my garage! First step is building a work bench. Year 2 will be building a flow bench and working on the head. Year 3 may inovle taking the car to the next step and looking at crank / stroker kits - seeing if I can get this to over 500BHP reliably hmmm we'll see, this may never happen but it's a nice target to aim at.

I will start to add pictures once all my delivery items have arrived. I will start by building the shed, moving the stuff and then building the bench. Expect posts covering just that in about 14 days! :)

If you like the way this sounds subscribe and like, thanks for reading I hope you enjoy the ride.

P.s. this is kind of where I'm trying to head to!

I got some sheds you could of bought extremely cheap! You could of had a full car hold!
Damn thanks for the offer:D I bought a 6x4 shed for under £200 with floor beams, sheet and some shelving - not too bad! If only I'd known never mind next time..next time!

I will post some pictures up later of some fo the goodies that have already arrived
Many work to be done, good luck.. Is the 500bhp achievable without upgrading the m45?
Good luck with the build, what race series are you looking at?
I'm not sure your going to strip the weight down that low, even the drag Mini's can't get that low as far as i know.
230-250hp is more than enough on track. if it was my car/plans i would maybe look at fitting a front mount I/C and higher spec suspension/brake set up than planned as that's where you will find the time out on track.

Forget chasing 500hp as many have tried and have mostly ended in tears.
Good luck with that exhaust set up and getting on any uk track with a noise limit ;)
I would assume the OP has/intends to get an MSA or equivalent license and will run at test days prior to events. As you rightly say, that setup will get you an instant test failure at most non competitive track days so there must be a plan.....

possibly not, a charger is a charger the M45 is a twin screw the new eaton TVS roots may be good or rotrex, twin charge is an option. Pipe dream for now heat is the issue, toward 500 will require a stroker kit and BVH plus a lot more besides & ££££

Thanks, Deutsche Marque Cup by Track Attack, just to cut my teeth then may look at 750 club or some of the BARC championships

I am having my medical in a few weeks then the test at the end of September, either way I'm building the car all the major blue book stuff I will complete once I know I'm eligible.

Regarding the db levels, I will be fabricating some stuff and testing to ensure it is within limitvat the strictest circuit using motorsport exhaust baffles, there elk be no cat or a 100 cell passed half way up the pipe to prevent burn out.

Hope to take the car to several licence holder testing events to dial in handling after I get the results, hope to post pictures of all of this as I go
update ahoy some pictures will be added tomorrow
Good luck!!! I think your weight drop goal is optimistic though tbh
The R53 has a heavier engine and box so comparing apples with apples, we're talking about the equivalent of shaving an extra ~250kg off my R50.

I think you'll be doing well at that but good luck all the same.
You could always save the build hassle and make me an offer on my car, pretty much has most or if not better spec than you've listed
Unfortunately Pau1 as great as that sounds it wouldn't be my build, there's something very personal about building the car you want from scratch, making mistakes and learning as you go, this is in essenece a trip down memory lane to my first ever car and how I learnt (a pink Mini...yes pink it was £50......Mini 850 1972).

Aside from this I already have a truckload of parts / tools / ambition to get cracking with! see update

Yes it's ambitious but it's a good goal to have no doubt I will miss it but it can be done, the proof will be in the thread I hope, however I will be happy with a lighter balanced car no matter what the end result - it will be fun to find out how close I can get :)
can i ask why you have gone k&n typhoon over the proven orrange stealth/dave f?

Because people like to try different things?

weight the mandrel is slightly lighter and in air temp will nbe lower as the bonnet will have intake louvre pointing in on the CAI side of the bonnett with an outtake louvre on the front left, both wings will also have outtake louvres and the bumper will be cut slightly for air channels and bespoke brake ducting
