I haven't exactly been using my car much of late for obvious reasons. Back at work now and driving in yesterday I noticed an unusual smell in the cabin when I pulled up at a set of lights. Basically it smelled like a chip shop! Any guesses as to what it might be? I thought I'd pulled up behind a diesel that was running on veggie oil. I've had the bonnet up and can't smell anything similar, there are no obvious leaks and it's not the clutch. I've even checked for a potato up the tailpipe. Any ideas?

Just a one-off or has it happened again since?

Any oil leaks around the turbo?

Crankcase breather/catchcans?

Still pongs as soon as the car gets hot. No leaks in the bay at all. I generally get engine smells through the vents as I've got no bulkhead plastics but it's not that

Might be worth pulling up the mats to see if there are any wet spots...

Battery well too...

I don't have a battery well but you might have something with wet bits. I'll have a shufty as the car has been parked half on the kerb for the last couple of days
