Good morning one and all!

Matt here from the hole referred to as Britain. Please, I am nothing to do with our politicians, so I can't help there.

I have recently acquired a 2006 R53 Cooper S JCW! White with go-faster stripes up the bonnet! I don't think the stripes work though as it's not too fast at the moment hahaha

My brother bought a 2006 R56 the weekend before me, but he got the lovely metallic blue (I got the Recaros though! Hahahahah)

Anyway, I look forward to 'meeting' you and learning about these cool cars.

All the best
Matt

I can change that for you.

these look ace in white I think, especially with no stripes, I could never find one with the bits I wanted,

where are you? Helps more. Most in here are UK.

I always assumed the stripes were worth 50bhp ?
Martini stripes are faster

Ah, more stripes = more power

I'm Cambridge way (East Anglia). I've got a stutter in delivery between approx. 2500-3500 rpm. The guy I bought it from took it off one of his employees hands just to resell and make a few quid, after ragging it I'd hazard a guess :) I'm gathering service parts as we speak and hoping that will resolve the stuutter

I know everyone has there 2ps worth but mine would be to have a good think about about where you want to end up with the car. Don't waste money doing better pads, then better discs, then R56 calipers, then Brembo 4 pots (like me). Just buy the Brembo's now and save yourself the time, money and hassle.

I've got the JCW front brake calipers, they're okay aren't they? Although I do need discs and pads.

I guess I want this to be a comfortable daily driver (34 miles round trip to work - mainly dual carriage) with longer trips occasionally. I'm used to a firm ride (having had Golf GTi Mk1 Mk2 Mk4 and Mk5 GTTDi, Subaru Turbo 2000, Citreon Saxo VTR etc previously) and usually drive sedately, BUT I do want to be able to rip it up when I feel like it so I'm not shamed by my friends with higher value luxury marques and enjoy the noise from the charger and exhaust. I would also like to put some upgraded stereo equip. in (Have the Hardon Kardon system in, which is okay ish). I've never really done any 'tuning' other than air filters, polished heads and exhausts. Already looking at reduced pulleys, new intercooler, coilovers

Maybe I don't really know exactly what I want from it! But that is the rough draft at the moment. I guess I'll see what poeople are doing here and pick and choose as I go! With the help from all over you!

A lot of people go for the R56S Calipers on the front (don't bother with the rear IMO) but I think that's more the track orientated people. A decent disc with something like DS2500 may do you fine on the road and cover the fast road usage. Personally I wouldn't recommend the Carbotechs for the road, I use them but they are noisy a lot of the time ! But then I justify it as I normally try to get out on track once a month.

Everything else is a debate from what I can tell, some have love for only 15% pulley, some only for 17% although I think most will agree any pulley will require a uprated intercooler (and plugs) for longevity and IAT control. I run a 17% pulley and Airtec cooler...

Suspension, most seem to say coilovers or bust...I haven't got them and I'm more than happy with my Bilstein B12 kit. Works well enough on road & track IMO...

I think its fair to say you can get to 210whp (ish) relatively easy with bolt on mods. 230whp (ish) starts getting into different heads etc..
