We’re going back to Sweden next month for the 2010 NMCS Summer Meet. This year, Mini Torque Goes Finland ("MTGF", not MG TF!) is represented by Micke, DoubleP, me and EB (although EB’s Dad needs to take the GP2 over on a trailer because EB’s a flaming glamour puss and needs to 'fly in for the event'). We’ll also take a couple of the boys for video/timing/co-driving etc.

The fun starts with a night on the Viking Line from Helsinki to Stockholm on the 10th July. As soon as we check in, and load the cars, we’ll grab a couple of beers/Lonkero at the stern, wave goodbye to the stadi, and then go have a decent dinner. I suppose it’s inevitable that we’ll pick up a couple of slabs of sponsorship https://www.originallongdrink.com/ from the duty free for the tyre-kicking evenings in Sweden. Assuming we don’t have a skinful and get breathalysed by the Swedish rozzers on arrival, we’ll then convoy 568km all the way down the E4 to Örenäs on the Swedish west coast – with a couple of stops for fika (coffee break) and to round up some other drivers from across the country. No doubt we’ll overtake the Discovery/GP2 trailer queen combo a couple of times as it needs to stick to an 80kmh limit.

On Saturday 12th, we’re at the 2km Ring Knutstorp (https://ringknutstorp.com/en/home/) with its double apex first corner, a hairpin called ‘Idioten’ (because whatever line you take, you’re wrong), and an amazing downhill corkscrew – like Laguna Seca - for the final sequence onto the main straight. It's one of my favourite tracks.

It should be good fun this year, as DoubleP says, to go out and overtake some BMWs erm, Swedish Minis. :w00t:

P.S. In the meantime, I even found a thread on which to practise your “rally inglis”: https://www.vauva.fi/keskustelu/3482011/tissis-o-thred-tu-praktis-and-diskas-poofekt-ralli-inglis

And for the Swedish speakers amongst you, we'll be the ones saying 'hejsan, vi kommer fra Helsingforsh'

MTGF = Mini Torque Goes Finland. It's an abbreviation for the name of the small group within a group which consists of me, JKo, Micke, DoubleP, DTR and EB.

I've been in an MG TF and it doesn't bear comparison. But now that you mention it, I can see the confusion. Just stop transposing the T and the G!

I'm already counting the days when the ferry leaves. Of course I'll be taking half of my basement with me (tools and spares) because fucking Mini's

MG TF chaps will represent MT proudly

I'm taking some spare rims, my basic awayday track toolkit, some sunglasses and a Shell card. If I cock it up, the 53 goes home on the trailer.

Let's see whose R53 will be going back on the trailer

1 more day left until the trip starts. Some preparations have already been made last Sunday :thumbup1:

First things first, we need to get a Mini loaded on a rented trailer in Espoo. That should only take an hour. Then we need to pick up the team in the Disco, and drag the trailer queen all the way into Helsinki and through the city centre to the Viking Line terminal. Check in is 5pm at the latest, but hopefully we're there by 4pm to avoid traffic and early loading. Once we're on board, however, we can have a refreshing Lonkero and dinner/limited partry time. It's a relatively easy start on Thursday morning as the M/S Mariella will only arrive in Stockholm at about 10am. We should be back on dry land by about 1030, when we can meet Freddie and the NMCS boys and start the convoy south. The first rendezvous is of course a Shell/McDonalds at the city limits for V Power and coffee. Then we'll have about 550km to the Örenäs Slott, a hotel on the west coast, but it's all motorway, so pretty easy, just about 6 hours in the saddle. Not including two more rendezvous to pick up strays. I gather we'll be about 30-40 cars pulling into the hotel...

Sounds like fun time (the original post, not so much the edit) enjoy.

Don't forget the pics/view of those MGTFs.... ;)

Peeter blew his clutch

There's always one who needs to get taken away from the track, he managed just 4 laps before a money shift (unusual for this guy)

But he found a trailer and a tow car...
