Yesterday was a pretty productive day for me - I eventually got around to installing my new android head unit in my 2007 Mini Cooper S. I've installed a lot of car stereos to different cars over the years - but this was probably the most time consuming one - mainly due to the fact you have to strip a good bit of the dashboard out to actually fit it - it's not difficult, just time consuming and finicky - its a lot easier if you have the right tools though - so if you;re thinking about doing this - invest in proper trim removal tools and a T20 and T30 screwdriver.

The reason I went for this particular head unit is because it is the most OEM looking one i could find and also has the option to display the speed in MPH or KM/H - most options don't look OEM and only show KM/H.. I have to say that it's an amazing bit of kit - I had missed Apple CarPlay since getting rid of my Golf R MK7.5 and this brings the Mini right up to date - the bonus being it's also wireless Apple CarPlay! - it helped tidy up my interior a bit as i no longer needed my phone mount and it replaced a Highway DAB 600 BT handsfree and DAB stereo unit I had been using.

The sound quality even on stock speakers is amazing! - the built-in EQ is accurate and adjustable/customisable and i honestly didn't think stock speakers could sound this good.

Hello all. I've just received my android head unit and backup camera. Waiting for the weather to warm up a bit before I tackle the install.
One question - has anyone been successful updating the software?
I asked the supplier and there response was that there was no Androin upgrade for the unit I have.

I was given the update file , but didn’t work for me , possibly due to me having a Mac , and unable to unzip as needed.

My camera is hard wired so no need to break into any wiring just make a groud.
Curious, where did you end up attaching the ground lead? Thanks.
Pretty much anywhere you want a ground is a ground, it doesn’t need a clean ground

Thanks, I thought that. I was just wondering if you found a convenient spot to attach the ground wire while you were running your cables.

Cheers.
Mine is and miss , have a good ground , but camera works occasionally.

Problems with the camera. Can you say more about that?

Sometimes comes on , other times not , awaiting a replacement, as all connections are sound .

Hi,
I presume you have mounted to the boot lid if so anywhere inside there just check continuity and good to go.
Use these cameras purely for siting of obstructions they are useless for perception of distance.
I've given up on the backup camera for now. Couldn't get mine working. Maybe a faulty unit. I connected to "Cam V" video and "Cam 12v" power. I'm going to button things up and take a stab at it another day with a different camera.
Mine works fine, I think you should look at the type/ manufacturer of camera.
I've tried two different brands of cameras and still cannot get it to work. I've tried getting voltage from the head unit's "Cam 12v" wire and alternatively tapping into the backup light but still get the "!" symbol in backup mode.
I've contacted Alibaba about that and am waiting a reply. In the meantime, does anyone know if there's maybe a setting in the Android unit that might correct this? Thanks.
Are there not different outputs from different cameras and equally different units expecting different inputs which need to be both the same.

Such as VGA (I forget the others)
I'm about to give up on adding a backup camera. I've attached two videos of what I'm experiencing.

Several back and forth communications with the supplier have been fruitless.

The four pin connector on the camera can cause problems make sure the pins are straight and make proper connections and that the arrows line up. I am you have checked this but worth a second look.
