Hi guys,

Just bought a Mini Cooper S 2005 under 2 weeks ago and currently loving it! I'm not a complete newbie as my brother has the same Cooper S on a 55 plate but has modded it quite a bit!

The only modding I've managed so far is number plates!

Heres a couple of pictures:

Sorry about the quality, they were taken on a Blackberry just after it had been raining!

Looking to put some new wheels on it next but not sure which ones, any help would be appreciated! So far either got down to:

Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 or

Cheers Guys!

Welcome to the madhouse. Nice car.
Welcome!

Where in Kent are you from? I'm in Maidstone.
Welcome! Bit of a difference in price between Bps and 1.2's! As said above buy coilovers! But it did take Charlie years lol. What other plans do you have?

Cheers guys! I'm from around Sidcup near Dartford so right on the edge of Kent!

Coilovers have always been very tempting but always thought wheels sets the car off a bit more?

Short term plans include some new speakers in the MINI but just not sure where to start?! So far I've gathered I can get some 6.5" components with an adaptor that will all fit perfect but just not sure on what brand of speaker to go with and if I would need an amp or not. Any opinions?

Long term plans include getting the aero kit on, JCW exhaust, reduced pully and map.

Watch this space guys!

Welcome

I appear to have been transported back to 2009. Why is everyone buying TD 1.2's again?

Thank you! To be honest with you I have been leaning more towards getting some dished rims on but have always been a fan of the pro race 1.2s. Wouldnt mind a set of BBS LM dished but seem to find they are a fair bit of money and hard to find!

@Adam good stuff mate! May see you around Bexley way!

I'd rather have OEM on a car that'd sitting perfectly as opposed to aftermarket wheels on stock suspension.

That said, welcome to MT. There are plenty of people who can supply you with the parts you need on here :thumbup1:

dont worry about them its 2012 when everyone on here just buys Rotas now, nothing wrong with TD's i still like them, and nothing wrong with Rotas either. Martins just testy as he has a golf which makes him miserable and Golf owners only by BBS at least mini owners move in trends once in a while.

Coilovers and chassis bushings are much better to start with than wheels, I rocked about with OE wheels for a few months before i fitted my TD's but I had the chassis all bushed and fully adjustable coilovers (height, spring load, dampening and camber front and rear).

Sounds good mate :thumbup1: How much do you think a set of coilys would set me back then and whats the best brand to go for (Sorry completely new to the modding scene! :blushing:)

It depends what your after, an ideal world would be something like KW V2's with camber plates and rear control arms and front lower wishbone bushes, circa 1200 if bought and self fitted, 1400 ish fitted by someone.

Meister R's represent the best all in one not to expensive option, adjustable dampers, camber plates included and loadable springs, £650 ish. Cobra EVO3's and KW Clubsports are the upper end of the scale on this are £1500-1700 not inc fitting

APs / KW V1's are the comfort option but are cheaper @ £480 ish but do not have camber plates or adjustable dampers, only height adjust. Bilstein PSS are similar but with more performance dampening in mind and are accordingly stiffer, but the same spec as the above.

From my experience I have always preferred adjustable dampers, for under £1k your always going to have a compromise one way or another, no matter what set up you have you need to budget to have it set up correctly, too many folk on here have fitted things and bitched about how they preform because they did not let a suspension specialist set them up.

M77 MWW mate pepper white....but as James said go coilovers, for 2 years I fooled myself into believing springs where good enough but they really are not, if only I'd listened sooner...I've got meisters and Tbh they are all ill ever need, not to crashy and do well on track
