Another day, another how to video, this time how to remove and deconstruct your side vents to paint them.

Yes. Mr. Muscle eats it right off without damaging the plastics. Ive used this technique for years with model making. The chrome plated plastic parts always look crap, so the standard M.O is to strip them and repaint using solvent paints that contain actual metal. There's a British company called Alclad who lead the way in these types of paints but I've noticed aerosol paints claiming to be chrome or bronze etc but usually these are rubbish.
Anyway, put the parts in a plastic bag about 1/4 filled with Mr. Muscle and it will dissolve off. Rinse and clean to remove any residue.
It's never failed me, but your mileage may vary.

I dechromed an old rear light using nothing more than a wet wipe! That really did surprise me. I was only trying to clean it.

I would expect that any external surface coating will be stronger and take more effort to remove.
