M62 does work

12729 Views 67 Replies 14 Participants Last post by  R53Hack
I finally found a German guy that had put a Cobalt/Saturn M62 on a R53, GP1 actually, and got a good tune with it. He posted up up a video and the power gains, 311 ps, are quite good when one considers how cheap they can now be purchased here in the US. Cheap enough that within the last week five more have been shipped over the Atlantic to join four that I sent over a couple months ago. In a couple of months there should be more dyno data out there with both stock and BVH heads.

Nothing better for the newer group of Gen1 MINI owners than knowing that Jan from RMW is an asshole. On the M62 I know of two other guys running a Cobalt/Saturn set up pushing big boost with them. There are more being built as well. Guy with a 13% is seeing 1,4 bars and another with a JCW pulley is at 1,52. Not shabby for what RMW has called a turd/piece of shit.

You and Jan are Identical people. There is no "New people" It's just you now dude. You wont the civic er I mean r53 wars.

I enjoy my 338whp tvs900 e85 ride everyday. Glad you and two other people enjoy your m62. Hey a m90 Gen III Grand Prix is fun too.

You honestly bring up your own stuff so often and I wonder if its just a means to keep yourself relevant? Because nobody is really like hey what's up with that m62 other than yourself or the few people on your FB group. We get it you like the m62 but its not like there is some large group of people seeking info when the NEW group of owners can barely afford a pulley and is scared to ask the wife for a catback system. These cars have gotten so far down the list that they are now in the hands of high school kids for the most part. Anyone older that wanted one got one long ago. Hell I spend more time working on my r34 240z and Opel gt than the Mini. Letting ones work speak for them is what you need to do. Otherwise to these new WOKE owners you just seem desperate to seem relevant and that's just the truth man.

Couple years ago you where all about the Polish Coleslaw until I heard he took you for some cash which does suck. Hope you got it back. Dont see him around anymore either and for good reason. When your on your death bed your legit going to be thinking about Jan Brugermann more than your own loved ones I bet. I only came here and joined as I was notified a post had been weaponized and I thought who weaponizes a autistic persons words...

I know some saw Jan as Yoda to the R53, but that’s a story from a long time ago far far away …

i should add that both tvs and m62 information is always of interest here, just don’t need the he said she said attached with it

good luck with both/ all your projects

If one takes the time to go back to the start of this thread they might see I was just posting some information on what I consider and know is a good power mod for the R53. Then a RMW Fanboi got involved that was chasing me from one MINI group to another being a devil's advocate. He must have chatted with "Yoda" as Jan himself got involved with his normal SOP of calling anyone that talks about something he does not sell stupid and/or calling the other product a turd. Further review reflects that once Yoda was shown to be at Sith, both he and his Fanboi disappeared. I am old and although I have more than enough funds to dump allot of money into a 20 year old car, I choose not to. I have been helping a good hardworking chap in Manchester that owns a MINI repair shop try to market a M62 kit. Of course his main job is to keep his shop open by turning wrenches so working on his M62 kit is for his one day off. With a young family, that does not leave allot of time to play on MINI mods. He has kept me informed on his work and IMO its a first class job. Of recent he told me that he was hoping to have his prototype on his car to start logging by September.

Again I don't care about Jan I just didn't want you using my words to justify your feelings or whatever against him. I feel the same way about him but I don't want my words used to validate your beliefs. Your on your soap box and I am on mine. I don't share platforms with others.

I don't care about your projects or the m62 that's your business'. Carry on. I have no TVS info to share because its a waste of my time to share it as it comes with a 20,000usd parts list so why bother.

Nobody really cares about the r53 anymore. All the real money in the scene is long spent and gone. As stated before all that's left is people who can barely afford the minor things and need help choosing them at that. Nothing wrong with that but there is nothing left. No major builds with all high end parts or go fast bits. Every car has a cycle and the r53 reached its peak long ago.

There is no relevance in being relevant in a car scene that is past its prime. I maxed the TVS900 out and its fun but not like loads of it and I cant imagine putting in all the wrench time for less than what I have from a m62. But hey I am doing things like this for shits and giggles.
