It's not the first time i see a piece of the piston skirt floating in the sump. But the piece on yours is rather large. You really have to schedule the repair for this.

As I say, the quote I got included head gasket and all the trimmings again, as I just had this done I thought I may as well wait until an issue occurs, even if ig ends up killing the engine completely it would still be more economically to buy a replacement than carry out the work for the sake of it.

I'm abit confused?

Regardless of how its running, the things got a lump of a piston missing? One day its going to let you down in a big way. Surely it would be worth opening it up and putting a set of Pistons and rings in before it wrecks the whole lump?

Being a JCW lump, doesn't that have a ported head etc? More expense if your looking for a like for like when it does fail?

I like what you've done, but moaning on the expense of an engine repair yet splashing out on seats etc doesn't make sense.

Maintainance before mods surely? I'd also be a little concerned if a specialist told me it's fine to run with a broken internal component.. Unless they've made you aware it will go bang eventually.

RE002's are badass especially for the price range. They will defo be my go to tyre from now on and dare say the same will be going on again once these are bald, although 10k miles in there's absolutely no sign of any real wear yet.

First track day at Bedford today. So much fun I'm hooked, can't wait for Snetterton in May.

Wet morning caused a steep learning curve and provided an interesting little spin. Kept it on the grey though which is the main thing. Afternoon dried up and by the end of the day I didn't want to come in.

Had a lot of people comment how quick the MINI was. Main car that seemed to be a match for pace was a stock Toyota GT86 which I am surprised at?!

Need to address some serious understeer issues for next time, I'm not sure how much of this is down to driver quality vs car geometry.

Bedford is great to learn on as there is generally loads of run off, what configuration, was it today? Snet is very different but still very flat. I've got to say Cadwell and Oulton are much more interesting circuits. I'm looking forward to Silverstone a week Monday
