Check Again!!! Trying 2009!!!
The times we quoted were official times for the R53 Challenge Car at Snetterton and this came from Tony Franks and he should know, so unless the these times are wrong then nothing changes. Anyway this has nothing to do with this thread so shall we leave it unless you want to start a new thread on R53 Challenge car circuit records in UK, even though Ben has already made a table!!

Quick update

The BRC flat top pistons have arrived with the JE ring set so I'm taking the block to be honed and should get that back after a couple of days hopefully !

Nitro Copper gaskets in 3 thicknesses so we can try 9.1 , 9.5 and 9.8:1 - from talking to TTS at the Autosport show etc we will probably go for 9.8:1 now we have a balanced strengthened unit and lots of control over the heat

Paul has ordered the 850 injectors

I am off to collect the shell from Selby on Sunday am - it will be primed Sunday pm and from Monday onwards Ian and I will rebuild the engine up so it can be fitted to the shell .

It is then off to LEEDS on 11th Feb for a week to have the manifold and system made by Tony Law Exhausts - we'll be having EGT bosses in each pipe and a single AFR boss for accurate mapping

Somewhere in between I have to get the shell to Steve again in Selby for him to make up the water pipes as their position is dependant on the exhaust etc -- see my dilema ! I never was any good at chess :crying:

Floof is down on the 8th - or that's the plan - things change in his job so we'll sort out the oil coolers , brake / fuel line runs , splitter etc

After half term holiday ( yes i am ! ) it'll be the trip down to good old Graham at GRS for him to make up the IC and pipework , fuel tan and header tank for a couple of weeks . Then from there it's straight to 1320 for the ECU and running in .

God knows how all this usually all gets done by people as my head kills from thinking , forgetting and then re thinking - brake lines , fuel lines , diffuser , GRP stuff to fix on , Rotrex etc etc , fittings , gauge placement , master cylinders

When I asked Floof to join me i never realised we would go this far with the car and neither did he but it is still fun :tongue_smilie:

Holy crapola, there is so much yet to do on that car! But it is looking like things are about to get very interesting and/or very expensive!

I bet Tom will love the AFR boss and 850cc's!!!

Did you get everything sorted mate? Sorry I was a little busy on Friday and doing a live update on here too :blushing: . Drove out with a big ol' smile though, when I finally got the right foot down the new exhaust note and feel from the coils instantly reminded me of being in your old car at Snetterton :thumbup1:

Very nice of the mrs to let you stay warm and dry, just don't start cleaning parts in the bath :lol:

let me know when your in leeds getting the exhaust done will be nice to have a little peak of the car. Also if you need somewhere to store the car in between the shell being finished and the exhaust, or the other way round let me know, youll be able to keep it in the yard at my work if you need.

who is tony law? ive heard of Tony banks but not Tony law.
