Hi all,

am thrilled to have had delivered my first ever mini. Black, facelift, with all sorts of options ticked.

previous owner had it for 13years, and sold through lack of use. That’s what sold it to me really, along with 4x matching tyres, and a national trust sticker in the windscreen.

Jobs list so far....
  • Need to replace PAS pump I think as it’s MEGA loud.
  • Clean in and out
  • Machine polish
  • Restore headlights
  • Health check/ once over at mini specialist
  • Wheel refurb

Future upgrades maybe:
  • Smaller dia gear knob
  • Engine mods
  • RS fabric door pulls, for a bit of fun
  • Research under seal/anti corrosion treatments
  • Maybe de-chrome a bit

Congratulations, looks like a very nice and well specced example, you must be well chuffed! Hard to find a car owned for that long these days.

PAS pumps are notoriously loud on the minis, have you heard another to compare?

Nice to know my National Trust membership makes me a more trustworthy member of the community, I should get my stickers up haha

I know, door pulls are a really silly thing.... I’m trying not to get carried away spending before the car has proven itself. With that in mind, to try to delay the desire to get a leather trimmed steering wheel, I’ve attacked the existing one with a magic sponge
Before (shiny, but sticky):

After (nice satin finish restored)

Bucket water just from the wheel....

been round the block too, still laugh out loud fun, and the LSD works!

Wow its a nice one mate, I spot aero pack side skirts, climate, tape deck (likely with 6 cd changer), multi function wheel, chrono pack and folding mirrors from what I see....thats nice that 👍 v jealous!

Magic sponge is the way forward, amazing how much gank and grease gets onto a wheel over the years 👍👍

Great work on that wheel, need to attack mine if that’s the difference it can make.

Will also get a custom one eventually ore than likely from royals) but that slips further and further down the list every week

I was really after a grey or green one, but loved the interior spec on this one.

Are you suggesting the current wheel is leather, or do you have a re-trimmed wheel you’re looking for a home for? Current wheel feels like a fake plastic-to-look-like-leather type thing?

I like the idea of a green one with chrono and general other spec mine has but I like the solid black with it's chrome etc

pretty sure it is a leather wheel, it just hasn't so much padding as some cars,

if tempted to send it for a retrim I'll swap you another nice MFSW to send, the one I have spare doesn't have the 12 o'clock stitched marker my current or your current wheel does which I like, shame to ruin one.... they don't all have it

Mini and I have spent the day bonding. Managed to wangle almost the full day without any daddy-duties!
Have done that first wash. You know, the one where you discover you’ve bought a wreck!? Good news, the thing is bloomin’ immaculate! All original paint I think, and just a handful of little scratches here and there.

Have restored the headlights, and they’ve come up perfect. Used an Autoglym kit this time, and is the best I’ve used.
Before:

During (stressful!!!!):

And after:

gave the engine bay a spruce up too, from this:

to this:

then exterior cleaned up.No time to polish, just a was and wax.

Can anyone tell me what the phone shaped symbol on the steering wheel should do? Can’t find anything about it in the manual.

I fitted a B/T Kenwood to mine & that button picks up the phone/opens the call list depending if the phone is ringing or not.

I assume this is also the same for the standard stereo but as mine didn't work when I got it I can't say definitively.

Thanks for all the advice gang.

had a go at de-chroming the belt line today. Piece of piss to do, but not sure whether I prefer it, so have just done one side, and will run that for a while 50/50 to decide.
