Hi all, is anyone running this camshaft? I have read good things about it on here but i haven't seen many people run it. It seems a pretty close cam to the 469. Just wondering what people's thoughts are.

the only person mentioning it on here is usually me :rolleyes: :LOL:
there are a few out there, some in the fb community might have them

just an alternative fast road option, the order of cam performance typically I would say is PH1/2, 1302461, PH2, Schrick, EW03, PH3/4, EW02, 1302469, dependent on spec, the last two fairly similar in performance overall I think but the EW02 has nicer daily characteristics, I use both fairly regularly and the 469 never fails to annoy me despite performing well overall, bogging and stalling pisses me off and its need for a higher idle compared to the 900-950 I can run on the EW02. Of course its not all about peak either, for example I place the 3/4 third and the 469 top, the 3/4 under 3k can have nearly 10hp over the 469 but might make 1hp more than the 469 yet 1k later dictating my view of its placement, the 469 top for the slight upper midrange with typical spec, I run higher rpm with lower gearing and have different stuff going on so for me and factoring the annoyances I opt repeatedly to retain the EW02 which 'for me' is nicer. Then we have application or how folk 'really' drive or what they're prepared to tolerate for comfort or practicality etc. It is quite a hornets nest and rather expensive to test all sorts of combinations, the vast majority just follow the crowd and fit a 469 perhaps because that's what others going from stock to 'a cam' did and they place it at the top of the tree as a result, I'm not one to only follow the crowd though, hence my own cam variations, thankfully with the ongoing support of Kent and Newman directly if not exclusively.

other cams are due, we shall refer to them for now as PH2R and EW02R, maybe another, as well as more N14 cams due for test in the next week or two in addition to the ones due for mapping on the 22nd, for now called EW04

sorry if there isn't the feedback you hope for, owners of the EW02 might choose to speak about them elsewhere I don't know, the cam is getting mentions from people other than me I think which is what it needs really, it's an option ;O)

I try to be unbiased with cams unlike many, I use most of them or have driven them at some time, they each can suit different people for differing reasons, I tend not to subscribe to the common this cam or no cam view, there are no false claims, only currently dyno sheets from highly regarded tuners everyone recognises and I'm happy disclose spec or accept critique whether one cam or another makes less or more for whatever reason if known, much of it is in the combination and the day itself can affect outcome or motor state etc, whether they could tune for more I don't know, I just use the same place, tuned by the same person, often aiming for early morning, or if feasible, at the same time of year

I'm hoping to get an order in for some more tomorrow as the last one sold off the website over the weekend

@shiftspark I need to reply I know (y)

Wow thanks sean for the info. I think my friend bought the last one off your website the weekend to try against his 469 he already has to see which suits his setup. I think i will end up the his EW02 which im more than happy with. I will try and do a write up when i fir it to share with others. My car has just the usual bolt on mods so would be a good install for others if it suits.

you know, I wondered if there was a connection to that sale and your post after the site notified me of the transaction :LOL:

TK? Yes he did, we have since messaged at length actually, I won't repeat the conversation here as it is private discussion, he has said he was going to share it with you anyway, it's not really for public airing as there is a sensitive element to it that he raised not directly connected to the cam options, which was very interesting actually, you may already know what I refer to, it's not for here as this site is open to guests plus has many members and we should be mindful of what a small world it is. What was just as interesting though, considering TK's point, yesterday in a lengthy telephone conversation with someone, exactly the same thing came up unprompted (sounds a bit cloak and dagger this haha), this person was certain there was real potential for the scenario TK suggested, it's not my own concern particularly I should add but I can recognise some potential. Anyway, hope that's not too confusing, probably stuff for WhatsApp more than here, even away from PM's, see what TK shares with you and it can be hypothesised over later perhaps:unsure:(y).

I know exactly what your talking about shaun 😉 Thanks for your input and time to comment. You have documented the cam well and i think yours was the only test with a side by side cam comparison. Nice work
