Hi Guys!
So after reading hundreds of build threads on here I thought that it was time to create my own! There aren't many R50's on here, which is a shame, but the ones that are done on here (along with the R53's) are bloody lush. Enough waffling on let's talk about the car!

Below is my Mini 'One' 2002 R50, as you all know the boring 90bhp, shit interior, 2 spoke wheel ect.

You can't knock a good cheap fun daily. I'm near Tunbridge Wells so I assume not to far from you?!?
I arrange a meet and a run every now and again if you fancy joining us for the next one.
I'm waiting to get my car back and then I'll try and sort another one out.

Hi Sam!
Yes we're within 40 mins driving each other, plus that will be halved if we find a decent half way point (good scenes and road also a good cafe for a cuppa/coffee :) I'm really up for meeting mate I need some mini scene friends for a good laugh and meet. What car spec have you got matey?

Ok mate not far.
I normally meet just off the a21 for ease for everyone to meet up.
Was probably going to head over to the South Downs and end up at a pub. We did that the first time we all met up, I'll do a different route but should be fun.
I'll keep you posted as and when I arrange it. As I say I need the car back first haha.

I have a r56 jcw which is just for fast road and track days
This is my thread if you have a lot of time on your hands haha
http://www.minitorque.com/forum/f272/sams-r56-38678/

The spec and mods are quite long so I won't bore you but check out the thread if you are interested or it is on the front cover of this months modern mini magazine.

Me and my best mate just finished doing the sound system upgrade in my car too, he used to have his own car audio company when he lived in croydon so he gave me a hand with mine!

He ordered a set of front door speakers and 6x9's for the rear (both sets being Pioneer), he's a magician matching all the wave frequencies ect ect, we decided to leave the tweeters standard as the frequencies were a good pitch for now too.

I don't have many pictures as we done this a while ago!

We also fitted a Sony Head Unit

Product Vehicle Car Technology Audio equipment

Bedding in the speakers and giving them a mighty fine tune up we thought it needed a little more bass to give it that extra fullness, so we wired in the bass cable, earth, remote and RCA. I got this Alpine AMP and Type R sub from a mate of mine called Dan who has a Blue R53 running about 240bhp (RAPID!) for an absolute steal, mates rates and all that!

It's nothing special but we mock fitted it, hence the bungie cord, to see how it would fit; sound and overall performance. But after a brilliant crystal clear sound tune it needs to come out and be carpeted and made to look slightly OEM in my mind to fit the part :)

It's been a few weeks but!
I have added and done a few extra little things so far but today was my most proud of yet. Today I started my boot build, for the sub woofer, the sub box annoyed me and it took up all of the space and kept falling over round bloody bends lol! So I started:

I got some MDF that i had kicking around the garage and got a rough measurement of the boot underneath the boot carpet
Rectangle Wood Floor Flooring Beige

Removing the two pins out of the retaining clips i could flip the carpet back to get a decent measurement

After a short while of trimming down the rear quater trim pannels down to fit the MDF board in, along with taking a triangle off the N/S rear edge (as that side of the trim curves more than the right? Strange lol) and it fitted like so
Vehicle Trunk Car Compact car Subcompact car

Measuring the diameter of the sub i dotted out, and aligned it all ready for cutting out with the jigsaw
Plywood Wood

Cut out, it just dropped in flush with no movement

I am going to crack on with the rest tomorrow morning as I have a free day (at last). What needs to be done is to create a nice place for the amp to tuck away, also dynamat the boot floor for some sound damping too, carpet the MDF for some extra damping and to ensure there isn't and rubbing / squeeling from plastic on wood, cut a whole in the boot carpet and then trim the rest of the carpet to fit flush within the car. Stay tuned gang :p

Oh and sorry for the rubbish Iphone pictures :(

So after a little while the boot build is complete a sounding great with a carpeted boot floor to dampen and reduce road noise too (Y)

Some disagree with this mod but my buddy has a crazy cooper s and he has upgraded his exhaust once again! For about the god knows how many time lol, thus leaving me with a very nice piper cams exhaust for the rear :)

below is pretty much on the only thing it doesn't have in the picture is the rear trim, but i have it on now as my other buddy works at BMW stealers and got me it in at mates rates (y) happy days!

I like the stance of my girl now, i think that she is getting there slowly!

Also if anyone wants a sportex cooper/one exhaust it is up for sale :)

I'm booking mine into the workshop I have my race car at 'fast road conversions Ashford' who are a sponsor for my race car for me ti make a 4 - 2 - 1 manifold and hopefully get taught how to do a custom remap fow her :D happy days! I'm sure they said with the one you get about 20 bhp from them, as they are the same engine as the cooper just a different ECU layout.

I only have the back box as i have kept the mid pipe on with the new exhuast.
