Many years ago (back in the nineties) a couple of the local hoodlums drove their car around the town I lived on a Saturday night with a bike on a roof rack. Later in the night one of them was sitting on the bike, on the roof, being driven around. At that point the local plod stepped in.

When you are young you really are stupid. Sadly a few never get to live beyond such shenanigans. One of the town idiots was killed in a car crash. There was an outpouring of grief and finger pointing to blame someone. Of course within a week they were all driving as if it had never happened.
Boris…..gone but never forgotten!

Stripped the rear shocker earlier, didn’t realise how much pressure there would be on the spring as the top mount went flying off across the garden, luckily it was sideways in the work bench other wise it would have been skyward!

I’m a bit concerned about the shock absorber though, took it to the garage to show him after stripping and he said it wasn’t good, you can push all the way down on the shaft very easily and it doesn’t come back up in any hurry, there are no leaks though, I’ll try and get a video tomorrow, as far as I know they were renewed before I bought the car, they are standard Delphi ones

I’m going to put them back on for the mot with the new top mounts but I’m tempted to get the set in that are currently up for sale the classifieds with 38k on the clock and refresh the whole lot now I’m keeping the car (of course I’ll kee an eye out for some coilivers!)
Be careful with those springs, they are under a lot of tension.

Some spring clamps are a good investment.

No news on the mini yet but I’ve bought the Skoda superb estate, it’s only 1/4 mile from where I’m working so on my break I took it for a test drive, just come back to do some more shunting then I’m going back to the garage to pick it up and drive it home

EDIT: it’s the crankshaft sensor in the mini according to the codes
Not a biggie in the Mini then.

Coilovers for £75, as they are FK I can assure you they will be rubbish and once fitted very likely to make your car terrible to drive, which is not good for selling it. Bit of false economy there.
