battery change?

My battery is more than 5 years old and im thinking of going for a replacement. Other than the batteries aging reason, I don't experience any problems for this change, but i think that 5 years is a good time to make that change, what do you think.
1. What specs must i be looking for my new battery?
2. Does a sunroof, an extra set of high beams (used seldom) and xenon head lights or anything else, have to do with the specs of the battery im looking for?
3. If the battery starts to "drain" should i be getting any signs of it failing?
4. How many years/klm do you have with the same battery
5. Will the batteries specs have to do with any future tuning i might do to the car?

Sounds daft just to replace it due to age. Batteries can outlast the life of the car.

Mine lasted 9 years ~ 100k miles
Mine lasted 9 yrs too. Don't waste your money, or battery.
oldmortimer and Dsjoe, on what cars did this occur?
R53

...but every car I've owned, the battery has outlasted 5 years
who knows, maybe R56 are different, a friends Suzuki Vitara battery lasted 15years... go figure!
Maybe. Maybe they'll last 20 years on the R56! Still seems daft to spend money on a new battery, when there's nothing wrong with yours. Your money though.
What signs would an almost dead battery show though? Cause its will be an issue to stay helpless on some road if it fails!

Seems daft to me too. Strange thread.
Plus if it has an ibs on the battery to have register a change which means only gen batterys will work properly, change the battery if and when it dies
