Repairs are now well under way.

Scott uses a place in Bristol for his bodywork stuff, Peels Motorkraft, so it's now in their hands.

A crack was found in the composite part of the n/s door so both sides were removed for further checks, the rear wing composite parts were found to have had the bonding broken due to the impact.

The rear beam wasn't playing ball when it came to being straightened so they've fitted a new one. Where they found that from I have no idea as it's a specific V6 part.

Quite an impressive job Peels are doing. Once they've done it'll be back over to Scotts for him to do his bit. The wrap will be replaced whilst he has it but the decals will be reapplied once I have it back.

Wheels are also being refurbed whilst it's away. A Mag Alloy specialist in York did them last year but apparently they didn't sort the corrosion on the inside of the rears and the paint has started lifting. They're going to a place Scott uses, they'll be sprayed with Zinc Chromate ( a corrosion inhibitor by all accounts ) and then repainted so they should be spot on when done.

Has been gone that long it'll be like having a new car!

Christ, how long?! I hope you don't have "an equivalent" hire car on the go too. That's gonna be some bill!

Regarding the wheel refurb in York, could you let me know who that was? PM if you don't want to name n shame...

Just spent a little more time than I should’ve catching up with this. Love it. Go with your gut on the rear bumper, On its own it’s OTT but with the rest of the car it could work. Excited to see it.
As for the Prick who rear ended you, he’ll get his just desserts when the premium comes through.
The IT guy at my old work put the bosses 1 of 1 Zonda PS into an Armco barrier along the A27. He then proceeded to pay the half million pound excess for his own employees mistake without an utterance of a curse word. I can’t comprehend that. I called my Mrs worse when she drove my car into a fence.

The rear bumper has already been altered by Peels.

I agree with you about it looking over the top on an oem car.. but will hopefully suit this. We never know unless we try.

Half a million??.....jeez :)

Seeing it like this makes me realise just how batshit crazy the designers were for making these in the first place.

I would have loved to be in those meetings...
Usually these kind of projects are undertaken by a ‘skunkworks’ crew. Like the BMW M Coupe, designed in secret if I recall correct. Wouldn’t be surprised to learn of similar beginnings for the V6.

The V6 was originally built for a one make race series in the 90's, the Clio V6 Trophy.
Renault made a road going concept for one of the motor shows, the idea went down well so, being the nutters they are, they made some for the road.

Parts now into paint stage so hopefully be back as SGMotorsport by the start of next week.

I like the look of the modified rear bumper....RH rear corner of pic :)

Amongst the other things Scott has to do is to weld 90mm rolled exhaust tips on.

Back together now and on its way back to SGMotorsport.

A way to go yet but you get the idea re rear bumper changes.

The exhaust is SS including the pipework so will clean up well although the back box may yet be covered with a plain sheet of SS.

Have been sent another update.

Glass is going back in on Wednesday and the plastic part that sits inside the rear bumper has been cut to fit so it doesn't fill up with crap.

The exhaust is going to be the biggest difference, the attached pic shows the difference between the old and the new tips. The outlet pipework from both sides of the back box is being removed as it's too small. 2 x 3" pipes will come directly out of back of the back box and the tips go straight onto those. The back box is now definitely being covered with a piece of plain SS.

Should look suitably mad
:D
