A New Year so a new thread... a few R53 turbos kicking around and more to come this year I would suspect....

Welcome to the 2016 Mini Torque Rolling Road League Table.

This thread has been created to find out what sort of power, both at the wheels and at the fly, is being made by Mini Torque members in 2016.

To be added to the table please post up a copy of your dyno graph as an attachment to your post and the following details (note that torque is generally given in lbft so please convert to lbft before listing your figures):

•Model
•Peak BHP including peak RPM
•Peak WHP including peak RPM
•Peak WTQ including peak RPM
•Peak Torque including peak RPM
•Peak Boost in PSI
•Ambient Temperature
•Dyno used
•Link to mods
When visting a dyno, where possible, please ensure you ask for measurements of the above to be taken.

Notes before dynoing:

•Check tyre pressures
•Check all fluid levels
•Cool engine/intercooler before dynoing
•Ensure plenty of fuel, ideally Tesco 99 or Shell V-Power
For supercharged cars, to ensure your inlets are as close as possible to on road conditions, please ask the dyno operator to let the car idle on the dyno with the dyno fan on until inlets drop to around 8-15C above ambient. There is little point dyno'ing a heat soaked MCS. When completing a dyno run, ensure the bonnet is shut to maximise airflow through the scoop and onto the I/C.

We are only 4 days into the year so plenty of time.... I am hoping I may be able to actually put my result up for a mini this year and take the R off it

Just going to drop this in again....

The only true measure of crank horsepower is on an engine dyno, not a chassis dyno.

Chassis dyno's also vary in how they are designed and how torque and power are calculated. Inertia dynos where power is calculated by the cars ability to spin up the heavy rollers, load dyno's where the rollers have a varied resistance, and hub dyno's which bolt straight on in place of the wheels. Each has strengths and weaknesses; a hub dyno best for steady state load for most accurate mapping, an inertia dyno better for simulating road conditions and making power runs, with a load dyno having strengths and weaknesses from each.

The simplest answer to your question John is that fwd Mini DT loss is approximately average to 15%, so
whp ~= bhp * 0.85
bhp ~= whp / 0.85

Wouldn't mind sticking mine on a dyno.
Ive thought the same with mine - I would quite like to see how much power gets down to all 4 wheels but it not being permanent, and a run being done in FWD only mode, means it would be a PITA!!! I think it amounts to around an extra 5% loss but would be fun to find out.... IMHO ::getcoat::

Just as I was booked in for a power run next week seems my supercharger is giving mild dying rattle vibes

Only just got mine on the 2015 list!! Rolling Road day is needed for 2016...in fact for every year going forwards
That is true - but is did mean your final position was 9th so not too shabby ;)

Good shout... ;)

1320 used to host a good and fairly regular dyno day event... in fact Lohen, 1320 and Surrey RR all used to regularly hold dyno day events...

Reading the Surrey (in Hampshire!!) Rolling Road website you can rock up on a Saturday for £40 & get on now so no need to even have a rr day...although one is always good & magazines love 'em for an article. If we feel that way inclined :)

Going to Surrey Rolling Road on Saturday to see what she puts out... Then I will go back after changing the pulley for a view of what power it makes on my car.

What would you guys be expecting from a 2005 MCS with a Dave.F, Milltek mani and sports cat and JCW catback?
