Good day all

Long story short my 2012 JCW clutch has just gone bang  to be fair i believe its the original from new 73k on the clock

And i am thinking about getting a TTV organic clutch and flywheel set up from Lohen .. i am new to modding and do not really understand the in and outs of certain things so please forgive

Anyways my only concern really is the noise/ chatter and clutch pedal feel i have heard about from going to a single mass flywheel. so my question is, has anyone on here got this set up from said company and does this particular clutch set up make noise or chatter ? i am thinking about getting a stage 1 remap also later this year hence the up rated clutch ..... the reason i ask is because i live in London and as you can imagine always sitting in traffic ...

Cheers guys and girls oh and id better not leave out the LGBT also got to be politically correct these days :censored:

Hi mate, I have the TTV clutch and single mass flywheel. Happy to report absolutely no chatter, noise or vibrations of any sort. The nature of a single mass lightweight flywheel means it picks up quick but also can bog a little off the lights as without the extra mass of a dual mass wheel it doesn't have the same amount of inertia to keep it going. That is just something you get used to but not a major problem.

Clamping power of the TTV is great at 475nm is more than capable. Clutch peddle too feels like stock and bites nice and low. It's a thumbs up from me.

Edit* I also live in North London and the commute to East London for work is no problem on the leg!

Good luck!
Geoff.

Good evening Geoff

firstly thanks for your quick reply

So your saying no noise/ chatter at all ? or its very low noise / chatter ? also do you think it will last as long as a OEM clutch / flywheel with the extra horse power ? i really do not not know what to do? leave it stock or upgrade..... also do you think a Quaife LSD is worth getting while the car is apart ? again as i live in London not sure its really worth while ............ also who fitted your TTV clutch ? as i do not really want to tow the car all the way to Lohen again £160 miles £200 ?

Sorry for all the questions but as stated i am still quite new to modding and its a mine field looking for answers online

Kind regards Brandon Ps what mini do you have s or jcw ? n14 or n18

Hi Brandon, no worries at all, questions are good.

So I bought the clutch and flywheel at Lohen after the clutch failed on the Dyno after their stage two tune. I didn't have too many options as it was there and I live in London so just went ahead with it. If budget allows I would 100% get an LSD fitted at the same time it will really transform the way the car puts it's power down and you're half way there as the box comes off for the clutch.

Just to confirm there is zero noise. It's great you won't be disappointed. In terms of handling the power and for longevity, I guess it depends on how you drive it but I'd imagine it lasts as long as an OEM clutch on a stage 1. Stage two and pushing it more then I wouldn't like to say.

I'm running a stage 3 JCW with a big turbo going on as soon as my manifold and downpipe arrive from Italy. How that will cope then I don't know. Probably be fine for a while but I'd imagine I may need to go back to the clutch in the future. All depends on how much torque it kicks out I guess.

^This^ saves on labour cost if replacing clutch kit & LSD.

Maybe contact Evolve as they're based in Luton if that's any better for you, but nowadays they tend to do the higher end cars.

Surely this is something a decent local garage can do.

I’ve got one fitted and was worried about noise of a SMF too - its not the lightest so it still feels very similar although noticeable on Rev drop and when it can bog down if you aren’t adding enough revs.

The only time I get noise is it I stick it in 6th from a low rpm and labour it, just shift down and it’ll rip through the revs easier

Good afternoon Geoff

Big thanks for the super quick reply"s

After a lot of thought i have decided to bite the bullet and go for the TTV clutch and Lsd as you say it just makes sense
plus i already have the Superpro bushings fitted and i have the Raggazzon Valvetronic exhaust ( fitted at Lohen ) which is excellent . so all i will need after the new clutch and Lsd is stage 1 tune , ITG filter and cold plugs not 100 % sure if i need the bigger Inter cooler ( although i will probably just get it anyway ) in case i later decide to go stage 2 So

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my array of questions your help is much appreciated

Ps if your ever in the Chelsea, Fulham area give me a shout would love to see your stage 3 mini and ask you 1.2 million questions about it

kindest regards Brandon

Good afternoon Chrispy

Good to hear as was worried about SMF chatter after watching some videos on the tube . i have decided to pull the trigger and get the TTV Organic + the Quaife Lsd £2600 fitted at Lohen Only problem i have no car until Lohen can get me in and the earliest is the 16th this month :( + have to tow the car £160 miles to them

Do you have the Quaife Lsd ? and if so is it really worth the extra cost ? as i live in London so as i am sure you can imagine stuck in traffic most of the time ?

Kind regards Brandon

Yep I’ve got a Quaife diff too, all in all it takes commitment to really ‘feel’ it on the roads, but once you’ve adapted how you drive it really shows itself.
On track it does feel a bit like witchcraft when you plant your foot and where it used to light up the inside wheel, it just rips you round with no fuss - really quite cool when you’re used to controlling it through your foot the once the wheelspin started, you were buggered til it sorted itself out

yeah i just figure as the clutch has to be changed anyway i may as well get it done.. whether i notice the difference on the road time will tell .. another quick question, would you recommend getting the airtech intercooler with only a stage 1 ?

many thanks Brandon

Hey Brandon,

No worries happy to offer any help. I think you'll be making the right decision doing the lsd and the clutch at once to save in labour fees in the long run.

I didn't do that, and regretted it as with nearly 270bhp and 400+mm torque it would be impossible to get it off the lights in any haste without it spinning up. The lsd is night and day better in terms of even daily driving especially in the wet.

You already have the front bushes done, if you don't have the anti roll bar bushes done do that too whille youre there. The Airtec is also another good modification as these engines do run hot it will help. After that you can decide on stage two or not. But it gets addictive I will say that!

Yeah you're not far from me so give me a shout when you've got it all back. Would be good to get a London meet organised too.

👍

I’ve literally just got this package from FaceBook marketplace from a guy who bought it but never fitted it.
It’s being fitted Wednesday. After having the ttv in my f56 it was a no brainier for me to go with the same spec. It handled the power fine in that and no noise

I am in the same boat as you guys, 2012 N18 FJCW clutch has gone (but only 35k miles), South East London.

Slowly collecting parts. So far have got the TTV clutch and flywheel and quaife lsd (also bought recently bought off a guy on facebook!!), Akrapovic 100 cell sports cat, wagner competition fmic and Lohen Powerflex handling pack.

Just out of interest, how much have did you pay to have your clutch and lsd fitted? After a ballpark figure as I haven't looked getting quotes yet.

Also where are you getting your stage2 remaps done now that Manic maps are no longer available. I have had a look around I can't seem to find anyone local who do properly live dyno remaps (not a generic flash file)

Lohen are quoting ~8hrs of labour so depending where you go and the labour rate ~£400+ - £1000+.

Hi Iain

Wow clutch gone at only 35k i feel your pain

regarding TTV clutch ,Flywheel and LSD i will be getting mine fitted at Lohen , but i have to tow the car all the way there ( 160 miles as i also live in London ) £200 cost

They have a package deal for TTV clutch , Flywheel and Quaife Lsd for £2600 fitted !

Yes i heard that Manic Maps are no Longer available but Lohen do i think there own maps or Superchips maps

One of the other guys may be able to help you with a ball park price for fitting as i have no idea im afraid

hope you get it all sorted ! my clutch gave up the ghost two days ago just before Easter holidays Great timing

and Lohen cant get me booked in till the 16th of this month 1320 even longer so no car for at least two weeks ( not a happy bunny to say the least

all the best Brandon

ps any good mini specialists recommendations in London ? trying to find a trustworthy one

Hi Brandon, unfortunately my JCW has been parked up for over a year. Luckily, we have a number of cars available at home, and with COVID it hasn't been high on the priority list. Instead I have been saving to get the right parts. I had noticed that the maps advertised by Lohen seem to be down on power compared to the old Manic maps, but they seems to have updated it since I last looked. Ideally, I would like to find a company to remap it incthe London/Kent are. I am aiming for approximately 270bhp. I am happy to fit most of the parts, but I will be getting my clutch and LSD fitted by Kevin Palmer (https://m.facebook.com/pg/Palmer-Works-S-ltd-113086783772962), he is also a member at our mini local club (https://m.facebook.com/profile.php?id=801067019974165), he has worked on quite a few member cars and is well regarded.

Hello Bran,

To confirm I had the ttv clutch and fly wheel fitted two weeks ago and already bedded in! I will certainly go ahead change the feel of the car dramatically! My mini is a stage 2 manic map so the stock clutches to be fair did last a good three years before it went! Honestly don't hesitate well worth it and you certainly do get that OEM feel and j haven't notice any noise from the clutch!, Good luck with everything buddy 😀

If you're in London then BMERC and Brunswick Garage are both mini specialists. I used Technosport in Brent Cross and whilst the work they did was excellent for my rebuild the time taken to do it wasn't good so I would discount them on that.

Good luck.
