So, out and about in the Mini this week and looking at the digital screen I suddenly see a yellow/orange half colour in engine fault image appear. Car in 'SPORT' mode and was running absolutely fine and pulling cleanly at the time the warning appeared. O/H consults manual and reads that the car is OK to drive, just not with too heavy a foot!

Took it down to local, trusted Inde at lunchtime to read the fault codes and shows:

1.2D52 DME: Super knocking
2.2DCD DME: Fuel shutoff due to superknocking, cyl 3
3.2885 DME: Boost-pressure control deviation, plausibility

Car background: low mileage (44k) FJCW bought from Mini dealer - had a problem 2 years ago where MINI replaced piston rings, changed cam chain & tensioner and completely rebuilt the head with new parts - the PARTS bill alone was c. £3.5k! Thankfully all done under warranty. At the time I asked about walnut blasting, but was told the valves were clean enough, so didn't warrant it. Since that work was done 2 years ago the car has only covered c. 9k miles and oil/filter changed annually, and is always driven carefully from cold etc so it is looked after.

So the big question is any idea what this could be? I wondered if it could a coil pack on cylinder 3 that is on the way out?

Any thoughts or advice most welcome! Oh, and if it does require walnut blasting, can you recommend any companies close to Newbury, Berks please? I've read that TWG in Camberley are very good - is that still the case?
Thanks!

As a N14 engine I would guess that it is carbon build up and it needs a good blast with walnut shells. Be careful using the meantime, in fact try not to use it at all. The fault codes are a last resort to protect the car from serious damage.
