Hi all

Hoping somebody can help diagnose a couple of issues I'm having with an '05 R53 JCW I recently bought.

Problem 1 - a loud rubbing / wearing sort of noise when I turn left or right and apply power. The noise is constant & isn't a knock or clunk. Doesn't make the noise without power.

Problem 2 - what feels like clutch slip under load at around 3-4k RPM in 3rd & 4th gear. Initially slips quite badly then catches and is fine. Intermittent & happens more when warm.

Normally I'd say it's just clutch slip & get the clutch replaced but the clutch pedal is nice and smooth & it bites normally so this makes me question whether it's the clutch at all. Combined with issue 1 I'm wondering if the two are related and something else is going on? Problem with the LSD for instance?

Ultimately it'll need some work so any suggestions for a good mini specialist around Birmingham also appreciated.

Cheers

if it's slipping at all it has to involve the clutch if the pedal returns to it's normal released height, as for the loud rubbing sound the factory LSD's emit a 'groan' near lock on low speed turns as pulling away, anything louder is another issue and I'd need to hear it etc.
