So I finally gave in when my top mounts cracked the other day and brought myself some coilovers. I know there are lots of threads on here about coilovers but these are pretty unknown and worth telling people about, I've split the review into three sections buying, daily and track use.
New to Minitorque!
Looking for some advice, opinions etc.
I am looking at getting my car lowered, I originally thought of springs but I want to be lower than 35mm realistically. So I thought of coils. Has anyone used AP coils before? If so, what are they like? I'm not looking for...
Apologies if it sounds naff bit I'm not sure and im struggling to find the answer I need.
I'm getting coilovers, not springs, and need to know whether camber plates are necessary? Or will I be ok just fitting the coilovers as normal by replacing what's already on the car?
I may track...
I've just had my coilovers (ap's) fitted. It's my first experience of coilovers, so I am more than happy with the ride and looks. Definitely sorted the un expectantly wallowy suspension of my fjcw!
However, at the front it seems to have settled slightly lower on the drivers side for obvious...
Hopefully getting some AP's at the beginning of the week and just would like to know whether I'm going to need spacers on the front?
Want to get the spacers ordered so I can use the coilovers asap. Currently on Team Dynamic 1.2's which are ET45 and 7J.
Thanks and sorry for another nooby AP...
So I'm getting some AP's for my R56 Cooper and now that it will be low, I can get some non OEM rims.
Decided on 16's as I want it low..but not too low without an archgap. Problem is; 16 inch tyres are quite a bit more expensive than 15's.
So just want to know if anyone's running 15's or 16's...
Newbie from Devon with a R53
Thought I'd sign up and lay my first post here..
I'm Toby, I'm 20, I've had 11 previous cars and have recently bought my first mini at the end of December '13.
It's a pure silver Cooper S R53 and I LOVE IT!!
Here is how I bought it, totally standard...
I will soon fit coilovers to my r53 and heard that sometimes suspensions needed to "settle down" before reaching the normal level.
I planned to have the geometry done just after fitting the coilovers but it seems quite pointless if it's out of alignment after a few weeks.
I might wait...
Set of used Meister R Coilovers for 1st Gen Minis.
No knocks, good condition, bit of flaky paint on springs and split rubber gaiters (see pic) but thats to be expected after 10K miles I guess. Adjuster dials operate smoothly... In box they came in and including instructions and sticker sheet...
Back in a R56 now so after some coilovers.
As before dont have to be anything that exciting, car probably will never go on a track, just after something for atheistics
set of APs would be perfect.
Anything considered as long as they are realistically priced
Well I think I'm at a point now where I can just about justify a project thread. I never ever anticipated to get into what I have, but hey ho :)
I bought my JCW R53 not long ago (having had a MCS before) as a promotional car for my photography business. However, it became quickly apparent that...
