  1. Bypass valve adjustment

    Faults & Fixes
They're definitely loctite'd as I altered my last one from new. Obviously yours has been around the block a few times and may not let go as easily, but I think some localised heat from something like a soldering iron may free it up
  2. R53 - just a nudge up in power and torque

    New to Mini Torque?
    Get it turbo'd and it'll maul your S3 ;)
  3. Back on an r53

good to see you back in a mini :)
  4. eBay discount code

    MINI Chat
I used a similar code via Larkspeed to buy my coilovers. Very handy [emoji16]
  5. Need to change my rear brake pipes. Any recommendations?

    MINI Chat
They are nothing out of the ordinary. Just fittings to suit the abs pump at one end and bulkhead fittings at the other end. Lengthwise everyone will have their own idea on where is best to run them so it'll vary. I just planned mine out with electrical flex and measured it off the car
  6. The Hobo Express - Now with less hobo and more turbo

    The Projects
The previous one was emudash3, I could never get away with Realdash, it's just too complicated to setup. This one is new out and combines the best of both worlds. Refresh rate is as quick as the stock tacho. The data comes direct from canbus rather than the obd which uses the much slower kbus...
  7. Need to change my rear brake pipes. Any recommendations?

    MINI Chat
Direct from HEL, made up to my spec. Worked out around £125 to replace all four brake hard lines
  8. The Hobo Express - Now with less hobo and more turbo

    The Projects
Stress tested the cooling system today. When I say tested, I mean I forgot to reconnect the rad fan and left the car idling on the drive. Repair seems to be holding [emoji16] In other news I have a new dashboard app to play with

Nice result that. Those lights look spot on
  11. Running-in oil

    Engine & Drivetrain
I would take the advice of anyone who charges £1400+ to re-ring (without any actual 'engineering' work) an R53 with a large sprinkle of salt. Yes I know this'll upset the 1320 fanboi's, but that is a piss take of monumental proportions
  12. Need to change my rear brake pipes. Any recommendations?

    MINI Chat
Full braided....5 years on an no complaints
  13. The Hobo Express - Now with less hobo and more turbo

    The Projects
About a year old. I think it's a flex issue as it's only supported on there corners. When the weather gets a bit better I'm going to address this with a full sheet aluminium support structure. That should sort it once and for all
  14. The Hobo Express - Now with less hobo and more turbo

    The Projects
A few mins later and its apart Nothing massively obvious but I think this may be the culprit A good thick blob of JB weld will have that fixed in a jiffy. [emoji16]

    The Projects
Here we go again....rad leak fix and oil change
  16. Running-in oil

    Engine & Drivetrain
I s use Lucas assembly lube on bearing surfaces. I've not used break in oil for a couple of reasons. Its wickedly expensive for what it is, and probably more relevant is that a a mini never needed it when new. I think the concept is a relic from the days of dinosaur juice
  17. NPR Piston Rings

    Engine & Drivetrain
Lymm's website is impossible to navigate
  18. Aftermarket Exhaust, Review time!

    R53 General
I've never had an off the shelf exhaust on my mini. With custom, so long as you pick a competent fabricator you can specify exactly what you want
  19. The Hobo Express - Now with less hobo and more turbo

    The Projects
MOT'd for another year, no advisories [emoji16]
