May be that the previous owner buzzed it a few times & it unfortunately decided to sh1t itself under your ownership

Have Hartech done the rebuild then?
Hartech have done it yeah, although to be honest it hasnít been much of a rebuild in the end, just a case of sticking a new engine in.

We were planning to rebuild originally but it would have worked out more expensive than new when we added it all up!

The really frustrating thing about it is that it would seem natural to use this as an excuse to get it rebuilt bigger and better, but the cost is just eye watering to even get 50bhp and itís just not worth it.

Were Porsche ever contacted about the engine? I'm guessing you were totally out of any warranty?
sometimes (most of the time) I sit back and I think to myself, fucking MINI's...

    They weren't.

It would be a waste of time. The car hasn't had a full service history with Porsche and it's now 9 years old so they wouldn't even want to know. Hartech advised I'd be wasting even five minutes to send an email.

Ah yes I could see the response... I guess its risk with a patchy service history, I guess with a main dealer history or Hartech etc it would be a slightly different story. Did they ever offer a clue to what caused it?

I did ask the question, because I hate the thought of this being caused by something further forward i.e. radiators, water pipes leaking etc. The last thing I would want is to pay a healthy sum of money to be in the same position in 6 months time, for example, so I made sure they looked into it.

The simple answer is they have no idea. Everything looks as it should and they cannot understand why the engine suffered as badly as it did. I have pictures somewhere, it's not pretty.

If they haven't done it (they will have done im sure), ask them to do an over rev report.

I reckon it was buzzed a few times before you bought it, then something failed spectacularly.

All time favourite wheels are on and Iím officially a member of the E88 gang 🤙🏽.

    18x9 fronts
    18x12 rears

AD08R should provide all the grip I need.

Havenít got the rear fitment sorted yet so no proper pics yet. Put 295s on the rear but they look very stretched now that Iím no longer a scene queen so maybe 305s are needed. I was worried about 12s fitting under the arches but theyíre fine so maybe a fatter tyre will be better.
