Hmmm, for the costs involved, and reasons people may come to you for this (knackered engine), an oil pump should be a mandatory part of either reconditioning, or renewal, you wouldn't say they come with used working pistons,
To be honest all of our engine builds so far have been building the customers current engine due to failure or wanting to run more power. I imagine the surcharge could put someone off but that is how much it could cost to buy an engine to replace the damaged one. I appreciate that some people might not understand the costs of the parts or what the engine builds are designed for, I will feed this back and see if this can be amended.

We do not close deck the block as part of the rebuild.
How much it would cost to buy an engine to replace a 'damaged' one is ok, but a 'worn' one isn't the customers problem and they shouldn't be charged for the reconditioned (not crate) engine, and then the costs of re-boring the surcharge too.

Maybe I misunderstood. However the impression I'm getting is that people need to think very carefully before diving in if at risk of losing a surcharge. It doesn't work that way at BMW (blatant damage yes) everything else is honoured (I know)

Sorry, clarity is as vital as a good oil pump.

Cause or symptom of a damaged engine...it's not as obvious as you might think

It's my understanding that open deck blocks are unsuitable for high powered builds (regardless of manufacturer). The only thing stopping the cylinders moving under load is the head gasket. Speaking of core charges, 2400 is frankly ludicrous

Think there s few more variables, I wouldn't be to bothered with a 300bhp open decked n14..

It'd be interesting to add up the parts cost (retail) for one of these. If you don't end up paying a couple of grand for Lohen to bolt it together for you I'd be surprised. Then there's the potential of a 2400! core charge sting. No beuno

There's potential for an illusion there, they're using Supertech parts, so if you look at 'retail' prices for these which are only on Lohen's site I believe in the U.K. the labour could appear reasonable? As Lohen are the sole supplier so far for Supertech in the U.K. from what I saw on the Supertech site, there is no U.K. comparison for parts prices unless you import them I understand. I know this is a particularly cynical view, (from most responding so far actually) but for me, I like to see where the deal or USP is, and I can't.

Hi-tech do really good deals on Supertech products. Granted they deal mostly in Honda stuff but they will do anything to order

I like the idea of retailing "built" engines, I also like the idea of you guys being able to fit them too but..

This question (I believe to be pretty well known based on the awesome builds I've talked about with the owners of them) is making me facepalm because I feel a mini "specialist" should know that before retailing them.

I don't agree with everyone's comments here but if you think you can do a better job (I sure as fuck can't) than the people doing it.. then crack on
