If you bought a new MCS it would lose 5-8k in a year most likely, or rent one maybe for 3-4k per year,

Buy one instead that is older for say 5k and have a sensible maintenance budget for 1k, the car based on the first scenario, would owe nothing after either one or two years.

Spend the same on re-engineering the car in year two/three haha,

    It's free really,

You can have more pints while working it all out,

    Perfect sense.

I've had mine from new, then again it only cost me £3 as I won it of a text message. I would say I'm doing pretty well in terms of that outside of maintenance and upgrades I'm in profit on the stock bits I've sold...
sometimes (most of the time) I sit back and I think to myself, fucking MINI's...

So, I did bother gathering some relevant data in order to shed some proper light to this discussion, because just as lordf has put it, the data was already here on the forum, it was just a matter of losing time, compiling the crap out of it.

I’ve searched for the posts, mainly in the Dyno Figures section, focusing on the cars which presented better results in the Rolling Road League Table. Some information is incomplete, for instance: list of mods missing/not found; dyno not found. So, with this in mind, if any of the car owners I will mention next, or any other person that knows what mods the car has, or that has a dyno sheet of the said car, please feel free to add that information. The purpose of this post is, precisely, to try and avoid hearsay, myths, etc. it is not meant to start another fanboy war.

I collected data from 1320 dyno, from 2010 onwards, as it was from that time onwards – at least from what I could find – that they’ve changed the dyno and way of reading/presenting the data. This way, we minimize the variables.

So, I’ll present data belonging to the car of the following users: Alex_MCS; Alski; antihero3000; Chubb; Damon; dangixxer; htspike69; Jove; MAFFA; Metalorama

    Alex_MCS

Hopefully the above goes to show you the REAL difference between stock/bluefin/dimsport/mynes and 330cc/440cc/550cc... no opinions just DATA!.

The feel in drive-ability? The mynes tune felt smoother through the rev range and it idled better because Chris never touched the idle map with the dimsport. Fuel consumption was worse on the mynes/550s than the dimsport/440's and it popped and banged far more often and far louder on the mynes/550's vs the dimsport/440's...

Did I see any performance gains between the 440's/550's and the dimsport/mynes... no, as can be seen above.

So, for those of you that think you have experience of the various tunes, injectors, making big bhp or running 13's at the drag strip, show us your data like I just have, because most of you have only just started to make the power I did with the M45 now... and I did it 3 fucking years ago!... So, how do I say this, put up or shut the fuck up!

I'm sick and tired of those people praising things when they've got NO comparison data. I know that the mynes tune an 550's made FUCK ALL power difference to the 440's and dimpsort tune on my car because I've tested them.

I also know that the Power Ranger ran a best of ET of 13.1 and a best MPH of 108.4mph on dimsport and 440's with a 3.8 30-70mph time, compared to a best ET of 13.3 and a best MPH of 106mph on mynes and 550's with 3.9 30-70mph.

    CarsOrBikes

    Peak Whp: 230.3 @ 7000 RPMs
    Peak WTorque: 182.0 @ 4750 RPMs

    Shed head
    GTT 17%
    GP I/C
    A Kent cam
    A 4:1 decat
    JCW catback
    JCW airbox
    ByteTroniK
    Ford Motorsport 550's

    Dyno Sheet:

All the above mods with the exception of the stock cylinder swap for a Shed’s cylinder head, and new tune.

    And here:

    https://www.minitorque.com/forum/f24/...66/index9.html

I overlaid both graphs, once again, for us to have a clearer notion on the real differences. And, as expected, the stock cylinder head only starts losing to a good after-market cylinder head when past 4400 RPMs. And the bigger the valves on the after-market cylinder head, later will the latter start making more power than the stock cylinder head.

    Thanks, guys.

Alski, after further analysis of the dynos, I must say you must have a blessed engine.

Congratulations, man, nothing comes even close to your "area under the curve".

I have a high spec head at 1320 waiting to go on my car which can't be scrutinised as I have a TVS but I have asked Thomas to see if Scott wants to put it on his car to use as a comparison against the other heads if he does then I will put the info out there .It is a machined head not hand ported with Calsibro bronze guides Supertech single groove large valves crower springs and caps.

Some earlier numbers, same day, same dyno
Some later numbers, different cam, different tune
Some random mods which might help if your chasing numbers or might just be a wallet lightening exercise
