Mini Cooper and Cooper S block

Hi doesnt anybody know if there is a diffrence between the blocks, pistons rods ect on a R53 Cooper and R53 Cooper S . I got a Cooper S with a failed motor and also a Cooper with a failer gearbox. Looking at using the block from the cooper to fix the S.

    Thanks

What would you do with the Cooper afterwards?

Wouldn't it be better to put the S engine into the Cooper and pay cheaper road tax?

That would be fraud and would invalidate any insurance too. I think it's called also obtaining pecuniary advantage by deception, let alone the other things in the book that could be thrown at you.

There are differences in that the R53 has oil jets for the pistons, the R50 doesn't but I haven't seen if the mounts are there, I think there was something different in the crank iirc too.

So I suppose nobody ever does legal engine conversions in this country?

And a 30 second google shows that 'obtaining pecuniary advantage by deception' was repealed.

The reply wasn't about the engine change itself, it was only about claiming the lower tax of the car it goes in. Simple really, and nothing to do with 1320 modifying engines or anyone else putting bigger engines in cars etc.

From what I know, they ask you for the cc of the new engine, which is 1.6L

DVLA are the ones giving you the tax status for the vehicle, as the engine capacity hasn't changed I would assume they will keep it within the same tax code as the Cooper.
