Just as a thought () could you take the aircon vent from the glove box and feed it in through that part of the box ?? thereby having aircon air into the intake ??? i know it would be the engine sort of feeding itself but would it be worth it, it may work ??? its not like the engine would rely on that feed but it may help keep temps down when sitting in traffic for example - ive been told to keep my aircon on in traffic as that gets the fans going to keep the engine cool but as a bonus the aircon could feed into the intake to help out too ?????

all that aircon vent in the glovebox does on mine is keep my ipod cold...

I never knew there was an actual vent to the glovebox I heard it could be used as a coolbox for drinks...I thought that was a joke!!

In any case, good idea Keano...but what about in winter when you have that air con cranked right up?

thats quite a good idea.. although we lose power with AC on could work... who wants to draw a diagram so i have an idea of what to do!! =9

concerning the little bottom diverter for the GRS who here runs with and without? any major diff?

i remember hearing it worked better without it.... any proof?

I expect it's just a standard lower cooper s part used on JCW hence why the opening is there and then bunged up - can't see why else

Keano - you could do that easily by extending a hose through the bulkhead - good idea for those who keep the aircon

You can see the difference here .... the JCW comes with a modified bulkhead with the bigger opening

yeah it is there on mine and keeps the ipod damn cold but thats all it does at the moment...

it is possible to turn the feed off for if your warming the car. that may be something that is modified though as i think that valve just stops air from coming into the glovebox, would need something further 'back'

Yeah as you say you lose power with aircon on (i think its turned off for dyno runs) but i was thinking of it as more of a bonus for in traffic - must admit mine is just on all the time as its auto aircon... how much of an effect does running with the aircon on have to power ? it may be that having the 'aircon' feed working would gain back that drag perhaps but as a bonus help keep things cool when stationary ???

just a thought...

so brownpants is right in that the extra hole is from the stock design. is it blocked up in the stock intake too ??

I thought it should be open....
