NS1 Testing results (Pre & Post Intall numbers)

At last, we are able to get the delta of a NS1 cam shaft.

Over the past 12 months, we have tuned over a handful of MINIs with the NS1 cam shaft and with good results. But the biggest 'problem' was that the cams were either installed at another shop or by the owner themselves; as such, we did not have any baseline numbers to compare against.

Well, we had one customer that came in today for our Stage I upgrade (Cam shaft, 550cc injectors and Custom Dyno Tuning). We were able to perform some base dyno runs with the stock cam shaft and then some dyno numbers after the NS1 installation.

Stock baseline numbers (16% pulley and Exhaust): 177WHP // 160WTQE
Custom Tuned numbers (NS1 + 550cc Injectors): 200WHP // 170WTQE

Note: the MINI is a 2005 MCS with stock header, stock head and 46k miles.

Remarks: After the installation of the cam, there was some ticking coming from the lifters. This is not abnomal from the installation of more aggressive after market cams (Newman, Schrick, NS1, etc)... this is not the first time we've seen this and definitely will not be the last. The owner is aware of the issues and will look into some rocker replacements.

We will have another NS1 upgrade next weekend. Will report back once the results are available from that install.

Below is the graph:

Not a bad gain at all.

Is the NS1 closer to the Newman or Schrick in profile?

would be interesting to see some testing of cams on stock heads against ported and BV heads. I do wonder if whats best for one isnt the same for the other.

Exactly the same with my Newman R50 camshaft, after the installation there is ticking noise from the lifters.

Ported Head with stock valve size TPR-1
Ported Head with stainless +.5/+1.0 size TRP-2
BVH....??? what is that?? full on racing?? I make one of those also... TPR-3

LOL Just joking here.
That is killer numbers, and the cam AND Tune is the Key!!
