explain this?!
hi all, i have a pretty much standard mcs in comparisant to some of you guys on here, with only a 15% pulley alta cai and remap done by performance torque.
last night i was out having a drive and came across a austin mini and subaru sti. the mini had a 1.8vvc engine and runs a 13.5s 1/4mile at 101mph whilst the sti was 320hp so the driver said. anyway i was keeping with the sti from 0-silly speeds whereas the mini was stupid fast in 1st,2nd and 3rd i eventally went past my mate has found a video that the mini passenger recorded from another site will try and post although not the best ![]() http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/i...t=Video004.flv Last edited by mini-si; 29-06-09 at 22:32.. video uploaded not the best qulity, had a few runs with him and pretty much even, he had a pessenger i was on my own. the video should of been longer, the fast we got the more it evened out. the subaru pulled abit when i was in 4th but then i pulled a little and all evened out again. it wasnt a one off either as it happened maybe 4 times

I doubt very much that the Scooby beat you in fourth, and you beat the Scooby thereafter...Minis are rubbish for top end, especially against a Subaru STi!!

The sti losses a lot of power with 4 wheel drive, and is also heavier , high ambient temps also dont help it -lower boost and intercooler struggling -
so 320 could be a lot lower at this time of the year |

ok mate, il leave it at that just thought id post it for you all, not to start debate. i never said i beat the subaru i said it evened back out! i.e he couldn't pull any more on me once he got a cars length. i spoke to the driver he couldnt believe it was only 197hp as he has standard mcs all the time. his words not mine guys show dont shoot the messenger. both the subaru driver and austin mini driver said they normanally kill mcs, which makes me happy. il leave it at that regards simon

1.8 vvc in a classic Mini is an animal. He should be destroying the Scooby. If you ever see him again, tell him he needs bigger wheels to take advantage of the power.

i will be seeing him again as he had a safety devices cage in the mini and as i need one for my pug 205 he is getting me a good price. the mini is very fast in 1st,2nd and 3rd but the r65 gearbox he has on it has a tall 5th so struggles top end. but with a 13.5s 1/4 mile and nos to come, he seems happy. i know i would be
