    Failed on my mini ONE, and on the S after 2 days of owning it. So ive had 2 failures really. I cant vote twice though.

    Even if your car is out of BMW warranty can you take it along to BMW concerned about an imminent failure after watching Watchdog?

    I have not heard of one yet
    90% certain that they're a completely different set up.

    Yes they are different ,but the steering rack is the same I believe and the elect pump cars also have rack failures -(seals leak) do the diesel cars also leak given the different pump? I think not

    Never had a failure - 60k miles on my Cooper Cabrio and 15k on the Checkie - PAS problem free

    Had one failure at 30,000 miles on my cooper, got the stealer to contact Mini uk and got a refund on labour costs so wasnt too dear.

    What makes me laugh is BMW's response that its not a common problem and PAS is an additional safety feature and driving is safe without it!. If that is the case then why is it an instant MOT failure!!!!
