![]() Noise Restrictions The regulations relating to noise levels are required as a result of environmental and/or planning reasons relevant to MSV venues and so there is no room for discretionary relaxation. They are reasonable restrictions which ensure activities at the MSV venues create the minimum amount of disturbance to our neighbours. Although these requirements can seem restrictive, we operate our retail driving activities, using single seater racing cars and sportscars, in full compliance with these limits. These measures are required to ensure that the majority of track day customers who do not attempt to flaunt the noise limits are able to continue to enjoy their track days without the relevant event or future events having to be restricted due to the acts of others. Static Tests All vehicles participating in track days at Brands Hatch must conform to the following noise levels, measured on a static test, dependent on the circuit configuration and whether the track day is a daytime or evening session: Brands Hatch Indy Circuit (daytime) : 105 dB(A) Brands Hatch Indy Circuit (evenings) : 102 dB(A) or 98 dB(A). See booking page for details. Brands Hatch GP Circuit : 101 dB(A) Noise checks to establish adherence to the relevant limit will be conducted in accordance with current measuring methods as defined by the MSA. Essentially this means that the noise test shall be measured from a position 0.5m behind the exhaust at a 45 degree angle, with the engine running at ¾ maximum revs. In cases where the vehicle has two separated exhausts the measurement will be taken as above from the median point between the two. If MSV is of the opinion that any vehicle does not comply with the applicable noise restrictions, the relevant vehicle will be prevented from participating in the remainder of the event unless and until the noise emissions are addressed to bring them within the applicable limit. Drive-by Monitoring Whilst MSV do not currently impose a drive-by limit at Brands Hatch, in the interests of ensuring that the spirit of the noise level limits is respected, MSV do monitor drive-by levels using noise meters located around the circuit. If the results of the drive-by monitoring show that a particular vehicle is generating drive-by sound levels appreciably higher than vehicles with comparable static test results, then MSV staff will notify the participant, and the relevant vehicle shall not be permitted to take further part in the event until the participant has addressed the noise levels generated by their vehicle to bring them within acceptable sound levels. Further participation in the track day may be precluded if acceptable drive-by limits cannot be achieved at the first drive-by test following the addition of extra silencing. No race engines may be run before 0830hrs or after 1830hrs. |

I'm in for the 12pm & 3pm slot, the other slots were full... still it means there will be no racing each other as Brands doesn't reward the reckless :-)

Great to meet everyone today and fantastic to see so many MINI's in attendance... I got some video which I'll put up later but importantly I managed to stick the Vbox in Joves car to get some proper lap times recorded.
The 3 best times (with both Jove and Paul in the car) were: 59.50 seconds (red line) 60.19 seconds (dark blue line) 60.29 seconds (light blue line) Highest speed on pit straight: 116 mph Here's the graph: ![]() And the route round the track (Indy Circuit): ![]() |

Looking at the red line, seems Jove managed to exit Paddock Hill Bend faster when he was a little more conservative round the apex. Sounds like a good day though
