You're checking his work so if it's ok you pay for it
if it's not he should sort it and if he wont pay the inspection you will have to claim through the court

He says the car is completed now but if I pay for the work which I had done for the MOT its like accepting all the work he did. If I then have problems with the car I have no come back on him as its just his word against mine.

The police do say its a civil mater and don't want to know. A company does not have to provide its insurance details by law.

The police have said my insurance company should be doing all this work as I paid for legal advice

Pay by credit card NOT debit card , collect the car and if you are not satisfied claim back the payment from the card company - the Garage has to prove that the refund should nothave been given and they will not be able to - 99.99% of the rules with cards are in the consumers benefit - the garage will end up losing they always do

Problem with this is the work for the MOT only comes to £230 , if there is any other problems with the car its going to cost more than that.

I don't think I can win this one...............
