no comment on who you think the tuner's are. i have been to minispeed to have jcw seats fitted-a simple job which they did but not that well. knew enough to know i wouldn't go back! yes 2 of the tuners are non mini2 sponsors and aren't on minitorque either at least on an official level.

They didn't do it very well? Whats not to do well

I've done it about 4 or 5 times now and can easily say if they can't do the seats, then I wouldn't trust them to do anything on my car!

as i said, i can't comment on identities. it's worth saying that i think lohen are very good and that i would use them again. minispeed aren't on this list, i would never ask them for advice on anything.

they never fitted the seatbelt protectors as they didn't know where they went. they also said and i quote "we did a lot of head scratching fitting your front and rear seats...it's quite involved..."

Oh my god! So long as you have the tools its easy!

I admit the first time I did it the instructions where pants and I undid a screw on a spring mechanism that took me an hour to put back together. However i decided to bin the instructions and work it out myself.

Now I think I could do the seats in about 1.5-2.0 hours if i'm being lazy.

May I ask what they charged for their head scratching?

(assuming we're talking about the JCW Sparco's for the R53 not the JCW Recaro's for the R56 that can be adpated to fit the R53).

Oh yeah there is MODNMINI forgot about them which tuner could they be...

i never spoke to modnmini. minispeed charged me £300 incl.vat as it took them longer than expected. i was told on the phone at the start it would be around £200, this rose to £300 when i got the final invoice and i wasn't informed of the rise! i had an a&e shift to get to on the morning i picked up the car so i had to pay and then get to work! under different circumstances i wouldn't have paid!!

tuner 1 - " tuner 2 use older archiac injectors, we've seen some of those american's cars and their injectors are the same. it's not just about size you know.. "
"don't trust their dyno, go to a non mini one, one with no vested interest"

tuner 2 - "tuner 1's intercoolers don't fit, you need to cut the bellows"
"tuner 5's cars go bang......those scheisters..."

tuner 3- "we're stuck in the middle"
"we can't trust anyone else to set up that product in case it's not done correctly - this may unfairly bias customers against it"
"Tuner 1's intercoolers don't need brackets, they have snoot boots"
on tuner 1's comments about tuner 2's injectors:- " yes this might be true " - ?the supplier of both tuner 1 and tuner 2??

tuner 4 - "the R53 cooper s does not have a fuel filter"
on sounds coming from my car's suspension:-"it's because you've got upper and lower alta rear control arms" - they fitted these and koni fsd's - it turned out to be the fsd's making the noise!

tuner 5 - "there's no telling the untold damage done to your car putting it on a dyno......they should have stopped before the IATs went that high... minicooper s's are not safe to be dyno'd, as they're supercharged engines..."

tuner 6 - "we've dyno'd a few of tuner 1's cars, the mapping's awful. our dyno setup's alot slicker than tuner 2's not many people like to admit we've tuned their cars..."

tuner 7 "feeding the addict...."!

tuner's 4 & 7 made no criticisms of other tuners

tuners 2-7 advised me to go for a larger 15/17% pulley

tuner 1 suggested an independent dyno first, he also had a product you can combine with bigger injectors which he felt would be enough to keep my car safe with a 19% pulley.

tuner 3 advised against running a 19% on a track day but feels it should be possible on a road car with the right mods.

i've had the best customer service i've ever had from tuner 2, i can't comment on his work yet as he hasn't done anything on my car yet. this is out of all the garages i've been to, i've driven bmw's & porsches in the past and these guys definitely come top in that respect. judging from other people's comments they do good quality work too.

if you think you know the identities of all the tuners, PM me your answers, the first correct response will be rewarded with a free dyno session at tuner 1 and car stickers from tuner 6.
Tuner 1 - GTT

Tuner 2 - 1320

Tuner 3 - *********

Tuner 4 - Lohen

Tuner 5 - BBR (As they said the same to me before I started modding - 70+ dyno pulls later )

Tuner 6 - AMD

Tuner 7 - Minimania

Where's my prize?
