I'm the only one with this type as far as I know. Others have smaller cages that only need boulting down in existing holes in the back where mine needs welding in the back. These cages are therefore smaller and the back cross is more to the front.
The type of 'sport-cage' that I have leaves more space inside and weight distribution is a little better because the heavy cross is more to the back.
But it was a lot of work to get it in the car.

The cage has cost me 500 Euros but normal price is 900 Euros.
The Dutch company where I got one from has seven more willing to sell them voor 500 Euro but that's without shipping which is difficult ofcourse. They were planning on setting up a Dutch Mini racing series a few years back but MINI pulled the plug at the last moment so he only started with 4 Coopers.

Unfortunately I have a worn out Sachs clutch (worn too fast), it needs replacement before I can go back the Ring. I have a aluminium radiator and Samco cooling hoses set to be replaced when the clutch is replaced, airco will go out for weight savings. Despite the cage I saved 40 kg by taking out lots of unneeded stuff (stereo, sound deadening).

I will also pick up a R56 Supersprint exhaust system this week (with mid-damper replacement so that will make some noise) to replace the milltek exhaust so I will be able to fit the R56 rear challenge diffuser on my R53 which I also already have. A R56 flat underbody is already fitted. But that doesn't need to be ready before I go to the Ring

If they've got these for 500€ maybe I make up my mind and go for one of them.
How much does it cost to be fit? To have an idea.

Fitting I did myself so hours was not so important.

If the interior is stripped fitting can be done a few hours I think.
The front is bolted through the bottom, the back is welded with ground plates that come with the cage. It is the stripping and putting back the modified interior that takes the most time.

The cages have some scratches because of storage, I resprayed it matt black.
